Nah, it’s just a bunch of insecure guys controlling girls and women.

Admittedly the same book also comments on it being fine to marry girls who have not started periods.

Also when it was written, the usual dress was a garment to ground in pretty much all of Europe and head coverings were common.

So no I don’t think it does, just another person seeking to shame others.
