A murder is a murder. Someone who is sick in the head that wants to kill will kill with what they have available. My point is taking away guns will not stop people from getting murdered. It's not the gun that kills. It just doesn't make sense to take away guns. I am in Japan and citizens do not have guns here. We have never had a school shooting and we don't have to worry about getting shot in the streets. Our crime rate is also one of the lowest in the world, which is pretty amazing since most of the population are in large cities. A lot of people I know joke about the USA being the "Wild Wild West", and it is a valid point. Also, in the entire history of the our police force, there has never been an instance of a police officer shooting and killing someone. They do have guns, but they are all well-trained in their use. Police officers are required to have a college degree and go through intensive training. I researched the police training in the USA, which varies from state to state, and it is only 12 weeks of classes in many areas. Well if you're talking about America, I think it's about 200 years too late to reverse what's already set in motion, the seal's already broken as the violent criminals already have guns and wouldn't just return them because some new law says so. Meanwhile the law-abiding gun owners would do their lawful duty and become unarmed, thus giving the violent criminals free reign to rape, pillage, kill, and destroy as they see fit. Once you introduce guns into the general population, you have to assume the criminal underworld will become absolutely and permanently saturated with firearms of all varieties. So then the question becomes one of damage limitation -- making sure law-abiding, morally upstanding citizens have the capability to out-gun, out-number, and out-manoeuvre any attempts on their lives or livelihoods by a gun-bearing criminal.

Funny you said that. I watched a video on YouTube from a guy who travel on motorcycle worldwide. He was talking to another guy (when he was in Alaska) that told him he stop owning gun to ease his mind. The guy explained that the times he owned a gun, he experienced unease and paranoia.
