I mean not really even Fauci has said from day one that it isn’t going to prevent all infections but just dramatically reduce death rates and hospitalizations in the vaccinated which it has done quite well. Even with new strains the hospitalizations are almost exclusively unvaccinated. He probably expected to get it eventually even with all the measures in place because the point was never to prevent infection just to reduce the rate of spread and hospitalizations.

Not ironic at all. Vaccines don't prevent infection and masks don't do anything to stop spread. So not surprising at all that he got it. No more surprising than if he got the common cold which ALSO isn't stopped by masks, distancing or vaccines.

I'm a nurse that's been in a COVID unit since day one. I've seen a lot of my coworkers, as well as myself, get COVID even though we were vaccinated.

Yes it happens. But none of us ended up in the hospital. I've had 5 vaccinated patients since the vaccine came out. None of them died.

I cannot say the same for vaccinated patients.

Say what you want about Dr. Fauci. Him contracting COVID is not ironic... just inevitable, like everyone else.

I would think that he expected to catch it at some point and it came as no surprise to him when he did. As we all know (everybody with an IQ above 50), the vaccine only helps you fight the virus, it doesn’t stop you getting it.

No one would expect them to be any more effective now than last year's influenza vaccine would be expected to be against this year's strain of influenza. What was the irony again?

Not really; the only way to avoid getting Covid is to die before you catch it. He's as human as the rest of us- in physical terms, at least. Unless you take that horrible idea of defining humanity in HGP terms seriously, but I don't think anyone does.
