Do you think Americans should demand Biden to reopen the Keystone Pipeline?

He just refuses to reopen it because it opened up during Trump's presidency. Therefore, Americans have to suffer financially because of Biden's hate for Trump. Maybe we should stand up and protest that the Keystone Pipeline be reopened. What do you think?

The only way this will happen is in November the Republicans have a big enough majority that they can override Biden's veto to pass legislation getting the country back on the right track.

I don't think that alone will work, replacing him with someone who has a different policy might. If you were running an oil business... would you spend lots of $ drilling, and building damn expensive refineries... when he/fed running us into recession (cutting demand) if not depression, driving us hard to electric cars and off of oil... or would you just hold steady and pocket the $? you'd pocket the cash...

It’s too late. Think about it like this. Demand is constantly increasing year over year. When you not only interrupt the supply while demand is increasing, but also drastically decrease it. You artificially inflate the price both through futures on the exchange, but also with real world supply/demand.
Even if Biden opened everything on federal lands today, it would be years before we were down to 2020/21 prices again. All the domestic oil companies shut down multi-billion dollar projects, laid off personnel and reallocated resources. Even without the logical issues, these companies lost billions. Why would they throw more billions and risk losing even more if political winds shift back again toward “green”.
High fuel prices are here to stay and electricity is going to skyrocket, often resulting in black and brownouts.

The Keystone Pipeline was never closed. It is currently open, and has always been open.

What you are referring to is an extension to the existing pipeline: which is simply a shortcut, nothing more.

The Keystone Pipeline is Canadian; it transports oil from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, for transport overseas. It has no effect on US prices, whatsoever.

The oil that it transports is not for gasoline. It is tar sands oil, which is used for other applications.

The company that was building it has cancelled the project, completely. So even if it did help the US, it will never be completed.

It was only 8% constructed, at the time it was cancelled, so it wouldn't have helped current prices anyway, even if all the above were not true.

So, no; Biden is not responsible for rising prices, because of the Keystone Pipeline XL.

@Anonymous if what you say is true, then why am I still hearing on the TV news that he should reopen the Keystone Pipeline? Just yesterday I heard it again. That is what prompted me to ask this question.

This is probably going to piss off a lot of people, but I don't know how else to say this: it is repeated because it is a Republican talking point, nothing more.

Both sides of the political spectrum sling mud at their opponents all the time, because it fires up their voters, and ensures they'll vote the way they want.

The Republicans know that gas prices are a hot issue, and rightfully so, so they, and the media that support them, like to throw out the Pipeline for specifically that reason. They don't care that the facts do not support their argument, because it serves their purpose, and a lot of their supporters don't bother to question what is being said.

Now, before people dogpile me for picking on Republicans and their media for lying; the other side does the same thing, too. It's just that, in this case, we're discussing a Republican issue.

The problem is that even if they get him to reinstate the permits, the fact that the permits were cancelled after significant work was done and money was spent has a chilling effect on investing in any major project.

It won't do Democrats any good.. I t would take a year for it to matter. Gas prices will continue to go up prior to elections. And if Biden takes over oil companies and makes price $2 a gallon , the gas will run out in 2 weeks. Then no one will be able to buy it and they are stuck at home.

Biden closeed that pipeline because the American people decided they wanted to prioritize green energy initiatives. The only way Biden reopens the pipeline is if polling data suggests that that is what his voter base wants him to do.
