I definitely do not believe they should have the right to late-term abortions. This is essentially the same as murdering a full grown child, and society should treat it as such.

I feel very strongly about this because I actually have memories from the womb. I was fully conscious and aware inside the womb. Around the age of 3, most people lose most if not all their very early memories. Scientists don't know why that is, but some people do retain very early memories and a small percentage have memories from the womb. I belong to that small percentage.

To me, a late-term abortion is essentially the same as pulling a gun on a 5-year-old child. Actually, it's probably worse, because abortions often aren't even done in a humane way. The so-called "dilation & extraction" method is less humane than how we slaughter cows to make hamburgers. It's disgusting.

People who think that's okay sadden and disturb me.

However, I'm more open minded about early abortions. I'd be willing to trade legalization of some early abortions for strict punishment of late-term abortions (treating it the same as murder). The issue is determining exactly what the cut-off should be, because science can't pinpoint when a fetus becomes sentient. It 100% happens before birth. That's all I know.

I am not sympathetic to the attitude I see from most Pro-Choice women, "My body, my choice." I'm afraid that biology disagrees with that perspective. There are multiple organisms sharing the same body -- the pregnant woman and the fetus. It's the same with conjoined twins. How can you claim one has more right to the body than the other?

If abortion is to be permitted, it should be based on the best understanding of science with an abundance of caution. This should not be left up to a woman's whims. My understanding is that the embryonic stage is probably relatively safe to do abortion ethically, but even embryos start to form a central nervous system. That means that it's possible they can feel pain, so even at that stage, there should be care to make sure the abortion is done humanely as possible. We are very careful when we execute serial killers to do it humanely, so the same consideration should be given to innocent unborn life. Once the embryo becomes a fetus, abortion starts becoming a lot sketchier. And this is all with-in the first trimester. Past the first trimester, it just gets sketchier and sketchier.

I'll give you my answer below, but first I want to provide some context. Women use the terms "gender equality" and "bodily autonomy" as arguments in support of the right of a woman to choose an abortion. But there is no such thing as true equality in the context of abortion, for obvious reasons. Abortion gives women a choice in whether they want to become a parent. Men don't have that choice, so the equality argument is invalid.

The bodily autonomy argument is a convenient and persuasive one but it does not reflect reality in most cases. Statistics show that only about 4% of women who choose abortion do so for reasons related to health or physical concern. For more than 90% of women who choose abortion, their reasons are things like the fact that having a child would stand in the way of life pans like education and career, not being in a stable relationship with the father or not being able to financially afford to support a child. In other words, all the same reasons a man might choose to not become a parent. It's clearly about personal autonomy, not bodily autonomy, but they can't make that argument because it opens up the can of worms that is male reproductive rights... somethings men have NEVER had.

Having said all that, I think both women and men should have the right to choose whether they want to become a parent, which means women should have the legal right to an abortion and men should have the legal right to a so-called paper abortion. Until both have those rights, I have a hard time supporting women's rights only. Women had the right to a legal abortion for more than 50 years yet I haven't seen ANY support from women for a man's right to choice. Women complain a lot about men not being their allies in advocating for gender equality, but women are far more guilty of than than men. If women want men to be their allies, it's time for them to start being men's allies and showing they care about the rights of everyone and not just women.

Personally, I think the repealing of Roe v. Wade is a good thing because it opens up an opportunity to discuss true gender equality in reproductive rights, or as close as we can get to that ideal. And I think women and men having a legal right to an abortion or paper abortion is indeed the closest we can get. We are going to be talking about it a lot, and it's a clear opportunity for women to either show they care about true gender fairness, or shut the fuck up. It's all up for grabs now because women can no longer be complacent about it and sit back comfortably enjoying the status quo.

For decades the discussion of gender issues has been focused exclusively on women because feminism has had 100% control of the conversation about gender rights, and they of course have not given a damn about men's issues. But that is finally beginning to change. Feminism has lost credibility due to it's extreme gynocentrism and dishonesty, and I believe western society is finally ready to put feminism behind us and try to focus on true gender fairness rather than gynocentrism. What we have seen recently with the Heard/Depp verdict and the overturn of Row v. Wade are clear signs to me that women no longer have a stranglehold on the gender discussion.

TL;DR - I support choice... for women AND men.

As a woman who’s not sexually active …. I could care lesss!
But I was hearing some deranged people say that there’s a heartbeat immediately at conception. LMAO! That’s ridiculous!
    XD 🤣
    Is abortion Illegal Now?
But then again.. I don’t want people to continue to overpopulate this earth and bring more mouths to feed and more consumers out here.
We already have a poverty problem. And children without homes.
Why anyone would want to ADD to that is beyond me.

But I think it’s unfair to say to someone that they should “ keep a child “, when you aren’t the one to WIPE 🧻 that child’s a$$.
You won’t be the one to care for that child.
    Feed that child.
    Reprimand that child.

    SO NO
With the knowledge that the oceans are full of trash, and that overpopulation is real.
I think we SHOULD be aborting.
And maybe sterilize half the population.

Do you agree that women should have the right to an abortion?

I'm just curious. There's a lot of debate on whether women should have the right to abort, seeing that abortion will be made illegal in some states.
What are these states going to do about the unwanted pregnancies, when abortion is made illegal?
I'm not supporting abortion but making abortion illegal, forcing the mother to give birth to the child unwillingly, will not make her a better parent. I have this weird vision where a lot of females just dumped their unwanted babies outside churches, orphanages etc.

Will there be sufficient foster care? What about increased cases for CPS in terms of child neglect and abuse? Will these states be managing these issues?

No, I agree that any person who is waiting to be born has the right to not be murdered simply because his mother was careless about contraceptives.

@Liuz02 Abortion will soon be illegal in at least half of the US. Your choice is to either not engage in sex outside of marriage or to make sure that you are using at least two independent methods of birth control.

Since you ONLY mentioned the mother here, I don't think I was in the wrong thinking your focus was on the mother. Also, shouldn't it then be more legal consequences for the man? Shouldn't I be able to sue a man for getting me pregnant, if I dont want to, if my contraceptive falid?

So I say "No, I agree that any person who is waiting to be born has the right to not be murdered simply because his mother was careless about contraceptives" and four people [at this point] disagree. . . so I guess they would say, "Any person who is waiting to be born can be murdered if their mother was careless about contraceptives and the child being born would be inconvenient for her."

@Pizaz Bad assumption. The question is about whether women have the right to an abortion and I am focusing on women's behavior, so I didn't mention men. That doesn't mean that I think they have no responsibility for contraception, but that's irrelevant here, because they have no right to decdide whether a woman gets an abortion.

"Also, shouldn't it then be more legal consequences for the man?" More consequences than for the woman? I guess feminism and equality just got thrown out the window!

"Shouldn't I be able to sue a man for getting me pregnant, if I dont want to, if my contraceptive falid?" No.

so what? do you mean to say since it is a small percentage they do not matter and all women should just not have the right to abortion? This is unfair for women since pregnancy is a male and female act, then why are women being forced to birth the child during an unexpected pregnancy in ANY circumstance? There is little to no room for exceptions. so what the f? Birth is painful and physically and emotionally life changing. I hope you know the weight to go through child birth unwillingly. For the child, mother and father.

You’re rebuttal to me mentioning that “it is an extremely small percentage” and nothing more. I answered your first reply that this encompasses sexual assult victims and you replied with simply “small percentage”. What is the point then? Like I said earlier so what? If you agree that sexual assault victims should have an exception then what was your point mentioning the small percentage. It sounds dismissive. I am not assuming anything, considering how you left it open ended, I then asked so what?

The USA abortion law. I believe 13 states (should be) have passed the law now but only 5 states have the r*pe / incest exception. What are you talking about?

Everything has to be taken into consideration if a law is being made to remove rights of ALL women. We are not going back to some minority bullshit when they have done nothing wrong. It is completely understandable that abortion rights can be taken in some circumstances but removing rights for all women with no exception is insane and stupid.

@Unknown2o22 what dose eating animals have to do with the question? If I was to become pregnant now or in a few months I'd keep the baby even if I was raped, why you may ask, because it's not the child's fault it was created, it would be innocent and defenceless, it wouldn't have a say in the matter. If I was a "product of rape" I probably wouldn't know and wouldn't ask because it would being my mother pain.

Well this really shows how you divide the responsibilities when a pregnancy happens. To my knowledge there is still a need for a man and woman. And even if both are very responsible with contraceptives sometimes they don't work, that's the hard truth. But the responsibility falls on the woman solely after inpregnation since she carries the child.

And a man who rapes a women, causing her to fall pregnant, should not be held accountable for the pregnancy that she now can't terminate? I think suing your rapist should be the LEAST you could do if you have to bear the trauma and child!

Becus you lot are backwards. Your all
Pro life yet I expect the majority eat meat, how is killing a bundle of cells not right but killing live animals ok? A baby is not a viable living person if it cannot sustain human life outside of the womb, therefore a bundle of microscopic cells would die in seconds if unattached from the woman. It is not a life until it is born and breathing unaided! I think America is going to have one hell of a mental health crisis in years to come, not to mention poverty, child neglect, childabuse and toxic addictions. If a mother is forced to have a baby she does not want, you can’t not force love and compassion, it will only generate hate. The babies you will be pushing to be born with have miserable lives with depressed mothers who resent them forever more, to one day accidently fall pregnant themselves and the cycle continues.

It is a necessary evil, it’s not a simple nor easy choice for most, it does however need to be an option.

Yes it’s an emotive topic, however there are various reasons why a girl, woman would seek an abortion, not all are simply a form of contraception, some are financial and like or not that is a reason, some are also for medical reasons where the life of the child when born is doubtful or will have severe medical issues.

People need access to effective medical care including abortion services, yes it’s a crap thing to do, however for some it’s going to happen anyhow irrespective of professional services being available or not.

Living in England with family from Ireland I’ve seen and heard what happens when abortion is not available.

It's so funny how men will sit there and say no to the question. But have no problem asking a woman for unprotected sex. I don't see any of the men saying they'd step up and be a father, marry the girl, or pay child support.

But there quick to say "women shouldn't be allowed to have casual/risky sex". But they go and have casual sex every Friday night.

If abortion is banned, child support should be mandatory and non payment should result in a prison sentence. That seems fair, since y'all believe we shouldn't have the right to chose, neither should you

Child support is already mandatory and can already result in a jail sentence, which is archaic since it keeps the father from earning money to pay the child support and imperils his ability to get employment in the first place.

Most guys would step up and be a father, but a number of the women would rather collect the child support and play "keep away" with the child.

People know what they were doing when they decided to have sex. I know sooo many women who have had unprotected sex, get pregnant, laugh and just say they’ll have an abortion and I’ve even heard of the case “I going to Bali in summer, I can’t be pregnant “ and then they get an abortion just so they can drink, wear clothes they love and sleep around while on vacation… how sick is that.

I’m pro life. I also do think though that people should make their own choice if they want an abortion or not even though I DO NOT SUPPORT OR AGREE WITH IT. Am I happy with this new law? Yes because people justifying murder is sick, so many innocent life’s gone because people were irresponsible.
Protection like condoms and the pill people know aren’t %100 effective so people know what they’re getting into and they know there’s a chance they could get pregnant.

Of course. If no one else is expected to forefeit parts of their body for the survival of others, then neither should pregnant women. I know it sounds cold but it sounds cold in all other cases, too - i. e. if you were told only your bone marrow could be used to save someone's life and you refused to donate it, that's cold but no one can force you to do it, and nor should the be able to.

The only reason people think they can carve out an exception for pregnant women is because we have spent centuries urging girls to feel guilty about having sex and old habits die hard. There are always going to be large groups of people so insecure that it makes them happy to have any chance of joining a pile-on that makes them feel superior to someone. And joining a chorus of frothing people mindlessly blurting out "baby killer" is exactly that.

I think that there needs to be very specific laws that account for different circumstances.

By default, it should require agreement from the mother and father. If the woman has even a little bit of a reason to have fear for her safety, the man is out of the picture or unfit as a parent or it can be shown the relationship was platonic (meaning a one night stand/tinder date kind of thing) it should be her choice alone.

And regardless if it's her choice or not, the absolute latest an abortion should happen is at 9 months. Not after it's been birthed as has taken place in some cases.

I'm all for woman's rights, but this is the life of another human being and the situation isn't exactly a natural disaster if you know what I mean.

    No I don’t,

however I think if a state like California wants abortion to be legal that’s there right as a state. Congress could pass an amendment protecting abortion or simply pass a law to protect abortion. (I would disagree with there laws but it’s the right of the states and congress to go either way.) it’s not up for SCOTUS to decided there job is to interpret the constitution as it was written when it was written, The 14th amendment was solidified in 1866 so it has to be interpreted as it was written and what it met in 1866 not what scotus wants it to mean in 2022

If a dead person (a corps) has the right to not let their body (when they don't even use it anymore!!) save several people, a living woman should have at least the same rights. Now, it seemes like a dead woman has more rights to her own body than a living one.

When you die you have to choice to donate your organs, which could potentially save several people's lifes. But you also have the right to refuse that your organs are used after your dead. So, a dead person has more rights over the use of their body then a live woman. Even if the dead person could save more

Actually, in most states, a living person (usually a relative in charge of burying the dead person) needs to sign off before the dead person's organs are harvested.

This is dependent on country as well. But if you have explicitly expressed, that no one is allowed to take anything from you body when you've died. It doesn't matter what any relative, partner or anyone else says. I can at this moment register that I, when I die, do not want to donate anything from my body.

Hell yah! There is an alternative program my church works with and they provide alternatives to women who can’t take care of the children they are baring so there is adoption and/or classes to teach them good things to help them parent. But doesn’t mean abortion isn’t also a good thing which can help the future moms who aren’t prepared.

yes abortions shouldn’t even be up for debate. I hope I never have to get an abortion and my birth control doesn’t fail me but If it unfortunately ended up not working I want the safety net of having an abortion as an option. Abortion does not always have to come at the expense of tragedy or trauma. Knowing you don’t want to procreate is reason enough to want access to it.

I believe it should only be done on specific, exceptional cases such as rape, the baby has severe abnormalities and will die shortly or the mother's life is at stake.

In this case, please don't tell me this is a blessing. No kid should be having another kid. This is sick.

Believe it or not, I actually DO.

However, the Roe vs. Wade Court decision was trying to magically read something into the Constitution that Just. Is. Not. There.

This should be, and now will be, hashed out in the states, where, per the 9th and 10th Amendments, it actually belongs. That was how Women's Suffrage happened. That was also how the folly of Prohibition happened for about a decade too, but anyway...

Yes. We should have a right to abortion because having a child can ruin a women's body and it can be risky for some females, and life-threatening in situations. Men can't decide on this it's for women to debate because at the end of the day... Who is carrying the baby? Men or women. Why should someone who can't relate to the problem in question have an opinion on it? Men may be the sperm donors but women have to carry the fetus for NINE months and go through significant body changes. We should have a choice whether we want to risk our bodies and lives in general or not for another. Also, let's not get started with the bills, babies are expensive. You may say that women can send the children to adoption centers but why would we send our blood child to a life of misery, not all kids have it well in orphanages, damning a child to a life of uncertainty is not fair. A life full of questions as to why their blood parent would send them to an orphanage in the first place.

Only if having the child will kill you or damage you. I also think it's more acceptable in rape cases but I don't fully agree. Even though it's difficult to carry a baby that you were forced to have, but the child shouldn't be blamed for that. People who get raped should be given lots of support and care so they don't feel alone or depressed. If they can't care for the baby then putting it up for adoption is a good choice.

I would agree that no government body has a right to try to regulate abortion. I think that very act violates a woman's constitutional rights. But I would want government at all levels to discourage it and to give the woman substantial support and make sure those children are cared for and educated.

I agree with the right to body autonomy. I have the right to refuse a kidney transplant to my son. Even if he will die without it. Even if I die the state cannot compel me to use my body to keep my own child alive. As reprehensible as this sounds. It is the law and right. To single out women's body autonomy and rights because we can is hardly a good reason

Be careful with casually creating or denying rights, this tends to have a lot of unforeseen consequences. Especially religiously based ‘rights’. George Carlin has a great bit about why did god give different numbers of rights to different countries that is well worth checking out.

only under cases involving incest, rape or medical issues.

not because they made a mistake and slept with some guy without using protection. or the guy and/or girl should have to pay for it out of their own pocket. instead of making the government do it with tax payer funds.

There’s a lot to consider w this. I think if it means she could potentially die then yes. Also in the cases of rape, yes because it happened involuntarily. There’s a lot of reason I could say no just as there are reasons I’d say yes. But I think if women want that left entirely up to them than a man should be able to opt out of being involved in the child’s life w out paying child support.

That's too simple of a question, kt encompasses all abortion.

For example, if you were 1 hour away from being birthed by your mother, do you think she should be able to abort you?

Because "women should have the right to an abortion" doesn't restrict when or why she can have an abortion.

No, they have a right to effective birth control, and the morning after pill if they break a condom. Prevent fertilization and abortion will never be needed, for a standard procedure.

Any life threatening procedure is done in a hospital, not a clinic.

My personal feelings about abortion aside, I will agree that should be retained because it comes down to bodily autonomy at the end of the day and now this creates a slippery slope for future body choices one can make pertaining to themselves.

Nah. Life is sacred, including life in the womb. We as human beings don't have the right to decide who lives or who dies, especially when it comes to the unborn. There are programs out there that specifically help women who get pregnant due to situations like rape, but our society would rather put a bandaid on a bigger problem rather than actually fix the system.

    Yes. But in some situations.

Victims of sexual assault, women who are at risk due to pregnancy, and young women who are not financially able to care for a child are just a few examples of what I mean. Barring certain circumstances though, I believe that a pregnancy (whether you see it as a clump of cells or as a person) should be carried to term. If you don't want the child afterwards, you can give it up for adoption.

    No.
Abortion should he for when the mothers life is in danger or the victim of an actual rape.

But most females use it as a form of (after the fact) birth control.
Make better choices BEFORE conception, not after.

To a certain extent, yes. If a baby is due tomorrow, it seems too late for an abortion to me at least.

I don’t have an opinion. I (as a man) am unable to carry a child. I don’t know and wouldn’t know the right answer to that question because I am not a woman.

I want to see how women behave in the dating market without abortions first tbh. I have mixed feelings about this issue. I think I ultimately am pro choice but I can’t make my mind up.

My mom had an abortion at age 46 and I do think that it should be a woman's right to do so.

I'm not trying to be mean but there are lots of complications when it comes to older women getting pregnant (not saying your mom is old) like the child could be born with birth defects likes down syndrome, cleft lip, cleft palette, etc. Abortion isn't evil, but if a young girl have sex and keeps getting abortions then she will have scaring and complications with pregnancy in the future. Some young girls could get one abortion in there life and be fucked for life. It just depends on the woman.

My mom could have that baby but she chose not to. Her decision.

Any woman who has an abortion during a healthy pregnancy shouldn’t have children at all!
