Like what, and at what grade level? It’s silly to pretend there are no gay people. A teacher with a same sex partner should be free to have a picture of their partner on their desk if that’s generally permitted. They should be free to answer questions about their life if a student asks.
Well let’s face it you teach kids When they first join school, how to react to an active shooter on school premises…
Exactly what can be more traumatic for a young child after that.
we will not tell you about in society, we have more than straight people, oh but we will tell you how to avoid being shot and murdered while at school.
Yes, just like sex-ed should be mandatory. We should be able to trust parents with that but they've proved over and over again that we can't. In fact we can't trust schools either, but at least schools can be mandated to try. It would only take a handful of lessons honestly it shouldn't be so hard.
There are some things schools absolutely should not be “teaching”, and whatever the OP means by that “education” is one of them (religion is another). It’s not as if most schools are getting good enough results on what they’re supposed to be teaching in the first place.
mandatory class no. elective class no. after school program for teenage maybe. but it should require the parents or legal guardians permission for the child to attend it.
I would not teach it. And did not teach it. It’s not my job. my daughter was somewhat co fixed by it last year at 14… we spend time sharing with her about who she is and not let media brain wash her. She is good now.
Private institutions can do whatever they choose, and parents can choose to send their children to said institutions if they want their child to have LGBTQ education. The taxpayer however, should not be footing the bill for it. Same goes for "straight" education. Kids are in school, especially at the elementary and primary levels to learn the basics, get exposed to advancing math, sciences, language/reading.
Definitely not. We have enough problems teaching our kids basic skills, let's not confuse them even more by having to understand complicated social situations.
I made a whole mytake on this. So in a word, no. Don't make it mandatory. It cannot go well at all. Buuut if it was like an elective as in an option for more credits... i could find the purpose in that
People need to understand, the more power the law gives government employees, the more danger we are in. The second a person you disagree with gets that job, you can do nothing to withstand it
Even an optional class (decided by who?) will take away from their basic education. Let's concentrate on the basics (reading, writing, 'rithmetic) rather than confuse kids with complex social topics. If parents want their kids to learn about LGBTQ+, they can teach them at home.
Public schools need to focus on core subjects, especially during early school years. I feel the same about religion - it has no place in public schools.
Absolutely not. Sexuality shouldn't be taught in schools at all, other than the biology and basics of how (hetero) sex works and even that should require parental permission to be allowed.
I think that their are more important subjects to focus on. Maybe going over it a bit in a sex Ed class when they are older but I don’t see a point in a whole class just on that one topic.
Of course not. I'm the parent. This is stuff for me and mom to deal with. Not the school. You take care of mathematics and language, science, biology, civics, literature... etc.

could even be a program to teach teens safe sex practices regardless of of how they for non-LGBTQ+ people. it just happens to cover a wider range
*regardless of how they identify* even if their non-LGBTQ+

LGBTQ+ member here. I don't think it should be a mandatory subject, but I'm not opposed to an optional class kids can take to learn more.

@AviatorTom I guess that's what the school board and their meetings are for. They can vote on that there.
But it's just my opinion.
I can't believe there are people in lgbtq community who can figure this simple thing out
Yeh i got a little hopeful
Absolutely not. In fact, it shouldn't even be I public schools at all.
No, I don't.

should be banned in public schools
private schools ok
private schools can teach that dinosaurs lived with man or watever
or that a boy is a girl
private schools ok
but keep religion out of public schools
It should be illegal to push gender politics or sexuality on kids. Teachers who try it should be arrested and treated like pedos.

No, they need to be focused on financial literacy. Lgbtq education does nothing for a child's education
C - UK guy here, we all different in our own way but I'm really sick of promotion of LBGTQ/whatever stuff being promoted,,,
