The First amendment protects the freedoms of Press, Religion, and SPEECH! There is NO âfreedom of expressionâ in the constitution, and that is on purpose! Whereas speech is very specific, even some self-expression forms are speech (like wearing a âF**K THE POLICEâ T-shirt), there is NO freedom of expression whatsoever in the U. S. Constitution!
Imagine walking down the street and there is a well dressed guy with his cock in his hand, and he begins masturbating as soon as you are close enough to see him! With freedom of expression, THAT would be Constitutionally protected behavior, as he is only âexpressingâ his sexual urges, and w/ freedom of expression, nobody could make a law stopping it.
Speech is words and thoughts, and any physical action that MERELY furthers that speech (for example, donating to a politician), while expression is acting out on those words. For example, you are free to verbalize your anger at any specific situation, but you cannot EXPRESS your anger, because that would be violence!
As for Constitutional Freedom of Speech? I TRULY APPRECIATE that! My father is English, and I lived there for almost a third of my life! In England, you can be arrested for just OFFENDING or ANNOYING someone! A nightclub singer was arrested in England just for singing the 1970âs hit song âKung Fu Fightingâ!
Unfortunately, it seems that mostly right-wing websites are documenting this. When I searched for examples of people getting arrested in UK for speech, there were countless sites with examples, but they all seemed right wing. Hereâs one: https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2017/10/14/british-police-arrest-at-least-3395-people-for-offensive-online-comments-one-year/
The problem in the UK is section 127 of the Communications Act 2003, which makes it illegal to intentionally âcause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to anotherâ
So, thank god for the 1st amendment, because without it, anyone could be arrested for literally ANNOYING someone!

freedom of expression doesn't mean freedom of consequences.
GeezusâŠ
I suppose you meant âConstitutionâ and not âconstructionâ.
So hereâs what most dummies donât get about the first amendment: it applies to government suppression exclusively. The US Constitution was written to protect us from tyrannical governments, nothing more and nothing less. Nothing else applies. Your skool can still suspend you for running your mouth. Your employer can still fire you for running your mouth. Your social networks can still ban you for running your âmouthâ. More importantly, you can STILL go to jail for doing dumb shit like yelling âfireâ in a crowded theater or calling a false bomb threat in to a concert. Also, if you verbally threaten someone in most states, youâve given them license to physically assault you in self defense! Freedom of speech does NOT mean freedom from consequences. If youâre not challenging a tyrannical government, watch your damn mouth! Ell oh ell!
That comic was very offensive, but I support your right to post it!

When I was growing up there used to be a popular rhyme that went thus: sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me. Now when you use words that hurt peoples fragile and delicate snowflake sensibilities they come at you with sticks and stones and fire. How pathetic and weak are people who have to get violent over words?
I think "FREEDOM OF SEX" is more important than this nonsense. âïž
Freedom of speech should definitely be expanded much more aggressively.
awh hell naww i am very offended by that
only a couple 100 million bucks can fix what i am going through right now because of someone's choice of set of words which i dont agree with.As long as it does not incite violence or some other negative outcome it should be all protected under the 1st amendment,.
No.
As it's usually just dickheads who want to slander without consequences.freedom of speak is a good thing as long as it doesn't cause danger and hurt freedom of expression is good as long as not causing a riot
The sad thing is your freedom of Rights should not interfere with my feet freedom of Rights. We can say what we want do what we want and we must suffer the consequences of what we do, be either good or bad.
Outside of falsely yelling fire or bomb. Most of the other things should not be illegal to say!
Freedom of expression isnât interchangeable with no consequences
