Why do Japanese and Korean people immigrate to other countries if their countries are already so wealthy?

I've seen Japanese and Korean communities in every western country that I've been to. My question is, why do they move to these countries if their home countries are already so wealthy and developed? Japan's passport is literally the strongest in the world, with South Korea in second place. I get why Chinese people and Vietnamese people would immigrate -- - both countries repress their citizens' rights. But why do the Japanese and Koreans immigrate?

It's because the average work hours in Japan is 12 plus hours a day and they can never talk back to people with higher status than them at work. It's brutally long work hours plus over time and if the boss tells you he wants to have a drink of sake with you after work, you have to do it or it is seen as very disrespectful. Also being a father and a husband is very difficult because of the work hours. I am sure heard of Japanese men dying of heartattacks due to stress. there's also special hotels where Japanese men take a nap during their break hours just to catch up on sleep. It's not like America where you can suggest to the boss a more efficient way of getting work done because it's very disrespectful to speak back to people of higher social status than you. Also there is No high-school equivalentcy for people that don't pass high-school they just stay without a high-school degree and their version of the SAT is significantly harder than the one from the USA. a lot people kill themselves if they don't pass the test because they will be seen an embarrassment and burden to their families, so they'd rather die than live with the humiliation. Just look up the suicide rates. And there's also statistics that show there are more funerals than births in Japan.

I've seen some videos about the toxic work culture in Japan. It's like employees feel they are slaves to their companies. Studying is also extremely important, as well as maintaining high grades.

I'm Asian myself, so I understand that. It's just that my family is from Vietnam, and they immigrated to escape the Communists after the Vietnam War. We move to America, as well as other Western nations, for freedom. Vietnam is very poor compared to Japan or Korea.

Not comfortable. you know samsung... etc's boss would kick their ass and head in public. so they use ww2 to unite themselves and argue with commumism and capitalism.

Most just want to live abroad for the experience.
However I’ve lived in both and can say in the US it’s a better quality of life.
Also single Older Asian women do very well in the US in comparison to there home country due to cultural reasons.
This isn’t to say they can’t or the quality of life is bad there both are still great countries to live in.
Just things are better in the US.

The same reason wealthy people like me like to have properties in other countries like Dubai and Turkey.

We like to travel and there is a joy to be found travelling to someplace you own. Rather than just to a hotel.

You kind of answered your own question. most of the Vietnamese and Koreans who immigrated to America did so to escape the Vietnam and Korean War. The Japanese population in the u. s. is comparatively small.
