What does it mean when a guy likes you but distances himself?

Theres this guy I've been flirting with the past few weeks and its pretty darn obvious he's interested. Starting last week I think he's been mentioning stuffs like people are telling him "something" and his usual comment about it is "weird". Like that day I was with him, his guy friend grabbed him far from me and talked about something while stealing a couple of glances at me. When we got left alone he mentioned his friend told him something weird. I've asked him a few times what its about but he never tells me, he just says "as long as you won't get mad". To me its like he's dropping hints that he wants to tell me something. Ever since this started, he's been distant. he's stopped texting and all that, though when we run into each other and end up hanging out, we get as close and flirtatious like we originally were.

When a guy likes a girl, there are a lot of ways he can express it. In this situation, it sounds like he does but he doesn't want to show it. I used to do this; when I had feelings for a girl, I would try to distance myself from her which would involve talking to the girl less, rarely calling her, letting her contact me first before we speak, etc. (I know, it was a silly phase)

I did this for two reasons: I did not want my feelings for the girls and it also made the girl give me more attention. If I didn't give the girl the usual attention, she would often come to me and speak to me more and because I would have feelings for her, knowing she came to me, gave me more attention and spoke to me more just made me fall deeper for her.

If you want him to admit his feelings, you're gonna have to do it first (if you do). He doesn't feel comfortable thinking he is the only one with these feelings. At this moment, he is probably waiting for a text, a call, an IM, a wall post, just from you because he likes you so much.

P.S. Please, don't confuse this with playing hard to get. Believe me, if he knows you have feelings for him, he'd open up.
