With that said this sentence was harsh. Ridiculously harsh. Nine years for less a gram of cannabis oil? The Russian prosecution accused her of having a “criminal intent to distribute” which is insane. I do think she really was absent minded taking it with her. Very stupid mistake but an honest mistake. They don’t even sentence people this harshly in communist China for extremely minor drug position (e. g. Jackie Chan’s son did less than a year and he had a lot more pot when he got caught)

And the irony that “racist and oppressive” America is the only thing that can save her for almost 10 future years in a Russian penal colony.

I would like to see her get saved from America, come back home and renounce BLM and stand for the American anthem at games.

It wasn't a mistake. It was taken intentionally to get high. And China DOES sentence people that harshly. Jackie Chan has done a lot for the CCP propaganda, so his son got off easy as it he was Hunter Biden.

I don't care for Griner one bit, but I think it's more about the principles of America and "doing the right thing," even if the person involved is a garbage human being who probably deserves to rot there all nine years. As in, "You're still an American, and Americans help each other."

It's unfortunate, but when you travel to another country, you have to follow its rules.

I've done a lot of international travel. I intentionally left one of my prescription drugs at home once because I checked that one if its contents was illegal in the country I was travelling to.
