Why do people assume I'm straight-edge?

Why do people tend to assume that I'm "straight-edge", that I don't do drugs etc? I'm 24 and outgoing but people are always really surprised when I say I smoke and do weed. But they don't seem surprised when my friends say they do it. Why do I give off this impression?

I’ve been wondering the same thing but it’s not as much as a shock unless it’s my family. I’ve always said I wouldn’t smoke but then I got into a relationship with my current boyfriend and it plagued my interest more and more
