I was to young to remember but from what I've heard on 9/12 people came together and things actually felt united for once. Anyone who is old enough to remember is this true? What do you remember about 9/12/2001?🇺🇸
Before 9/11, it was all mindless materialism, a world where schlock like The Master of Disguise could've actually made some money, a world where the only reason so many were happy Bush was around was because at least he wasn't Al Freakin' Gore.
Around that same time, questions began to arise if the Bushes really were that good an alternative to the Democrats, since justice was never served in the Ruby Ridge incident from the previous Bush, and there was stuff being uncovered both about Mueller and about how Bush Sr. was actually Scherff Jr., son of a literal Nazi.
Cue a bunch of Saudi religious zealots suddenly knowing way more about engineering than seemed possible, attacking a target that had been bombed unsuccessfully once before, and immediate calls for an ambiguous war, and suddenly you had Bush looking like a great war hero before any war had even been conducted. You had Democrats never letting a crisis go to waste, offering up no alternatives that didn't suck, but being big mad that a war they wanted before they had a reason was about to happen, but that a Republican would get the credit if it yielded their desired results, and then pretending to suddenly be anti-war, all because they didn't want Bush getting credit.
Poof. Suddenly, Scherff and Mueller were able to vanish into the night, their crimes still not answered for. And everyone was too distracted by W being painted as everything from a messiah to a chimpanzee.
Sure, patriots got a few words in, in 2002 and what-not, so it was clear they had good intent but were misguided.
Then, come 2003, the shrieking demon left had its roaring rampage of revenge, and all patriot voices started being brutally suppressed. In their place, was endless noise.
Pornographic dating shows. Gay sitcoms. Insufferably materialistic thots. Champagne. Thirsty simps. Everything was fancy car this, McMansion that, gay cousin the third thing, alcohol, sex, very scripted garbage the next thing, until it became downright sickening. Like some total degenerate was out to turn all of real life into The Sims Livin' Large in the worst way.
Then came bad imitation J-horror, emo everything, pervert pseudo marriage, judges using the pretense of pseudomarriage to unlawfully negate common law marriage, and an increasing amount of stupidity and noise, all focused on drowning anyone from having sharp enough senses to see that there was something really off about both FEMA and the Patriot Act. And that Bush was playing both sides.
Then came Obama, whose cult following was infinitely worse than Bush's had ever been. But in spite all the rhetoric early on, and empty bleatings of hope and change nonsense, he offered just a more extreme version of everything wrong with Bush. America started becoming a police state, and schools suddenly realized they were becoming glorified pipelines for a perpetual prison industrial complex.
Along came Trump, pulling a similar con as Bush but managing to be even lazier, while shrieking zombies freaked out that he'd send us back to the era of Segregation. Then, Biden nearly accomplished exactly that, but we still hear endless shrieks of Orange Man Bad!
Meanwhile, we've drifted further than ever from meritocracy. Now, it's ALL about who you know! It's ALL about how many diversity checkboxes can be ticked off! And the police state nonsense has gotten even worse in some districts.

Quite frankly I'll ask a second question:
What about September 11th, 1973?
In Chile. Part of Operation Condor.
Where Nixon and Kissinger conspired to do a Military coup on a Democratic government?
The number of Deaths under Pinochet make 2001 seem child's play.
What about that? Also, those Saudi Arabians that trained the terrorists? Osama Bin Laden was American trained. Saudi Arabia payed a lot more money to the Bush family than the presidency.
There were reports of the incoming attacks that were ignored by the Bush Administration, and there is fault in the Intelligence agencies as well for not pushing for action on it.
I am tired of Americans trying to rewrite history. Making themselves heroes of every story.
If you think I am exaggerating, make a websearch of what Kissinger alone advised to do in countries from Brasil, El Salvador, Guatemala, to Iran, to Indonesia and East Timor... And how there was not a finger lifted in the genocides in Rwanda and Cambodja. Or how China was treated by him.
I think it's high time you take off the metaphorical cowboy hats for a second and learn some actual history. Because those unquestionably unforgivable attacks that made you come together? The United States did a lot worse all over the World, affecting millions of lives.
Its true that was the first time I felt the world stood still qnd that no matter who you were or came from everyone was watching TV. Id see strangers hugging each other and giving such kind words. A sense of obligation and heightened awareness to others.. people started to form more organizations to help others at war and people at home. This was around the start of the internet booming qnd getting more sophisticated revealing more communication and ways of raising money and awareness. Honestly, it was the worst but you saw the best in everyone. Sad that it takes such drastic measures to have peace and even that won't make it last forever.
I was just wondering when my mom was coming home even though she told me the day of.
People were lowkey freaking me out because i didn't quite understand what was happening and people/adults were telling me that my mom was going to war and kept asking if she left blah blah when of course she never came home.
My dad had to chill me out😅

I remember being in high school, and most of the teachers had the news on, or were talking about it. Except my dumbass math teacher. Quadratic formulas wait for no man, apparently. 🤷♂️
A lot of people were talking about this great sense of loss, of vulnerability. That we'd been hurt. Was it going to happen again? Was it over? There was an expectation of war. We learned about the plane that went down in PA (if I remember correctly), so it could have been worse.
I remember listening to everyone talking about it, and watching the search for survivors on TV. Hearing about people getting stranded, due to all the flights being grounded.
Honestly, though, I was kinda of numb to it all, personally. I mean, sure, it was shocking at the time, but it didn't really affect me, directly. I was never in any danger, nor did I know anyone that was. I felt bad for the people that were, of course, but it didn't hit close to home, and I wasn't in a position to affect anything, anyway.
It wasn't until the years that followed, that I really saw the true, lasting effect, and America's dumbass response to it.
My recollection of 9/12 is quite different from the "I Miss 9/12" in this post.
There was a Muslim Mosque near where I worked, and the authorities were afraid there might be a retaliatory attack by locals on the mosque, so we were told to stay home and not come to work. That lasted 3 days before we returned to work, with 24-hour police presence in the mosque parking lot, just in case.
My main memory of 9/12 was looking skyward and seeing no planes... my house was on the final approach to the local airport and dozens of planes usually flew over the house on a typical day... it was weird not seeing any of them.
The US has always been like that through every war. Even during the Civil War. Even In WW2 and Korea and Vietnam during segregation but still everyone all fought together. In the Korean War my Grandpa was drafted in and had a black infantry unit that got there asses whooped by the North Koreans and Chinese and was hiding under dead bodies and it was a white Marine unit who didn't have to come in or help and they came down and stormed in and saved them. The US has always been divided but we all fight together in danger.
We fight amongst ourselves but if someone ever invaded it will be hell to pay.
I remember EXACTLY where I was on I was on 9/12/2001. I was at work talking to a customer. He said to "Why the hell are you calling me now; aren't you watching the TV?" "I said what do you mean?" He said, "A plane has hit the World Trade Centre!" and hung-up! I was confused. I thought "WdaF?" Someone in the office turned on the TV and everyone gathered around. We were ALL speechless, whispering or crying. Our boss came out on the floor and announced the office is closed; everyone go home.
That whole week following was a blur and people walked around stunned. People reached out to family and friends for comfort. On 9/12, there were many people that got together to try to help and gave their Condolences but it was still chaos and a disaster because the United States were still on high alert for terrorist especially in New York, Washington DC, and other states plus people were still scared, many schools, jobs, and other businesses were closed in different areas of the states. Military Soldiers (Jet Fighters) and the Navy were alerted, Police Officers (Helicopters) still everywhere around different city and states. There were curfews and specific instructions that were announced by all the governors and Mayors. President Bush had a lot things on his hands that he had to tackle on that day especially when he address the nation that we were at war.
Yes, I remember, I was 15. Everyone was united against a common enemy, a very old trick which the Bush Administration used to start a war with Iraq while Cheney fleeced the surplus to make millions. One day Iran was the enemy, next day it was Iraq, and it was Saudi's and an ex-CIA operative who executed the whole thing.
What was good about it was that nobody cared who you might be if you needed help. It was people helping people. What was bad about it was all the lies it spawned and how easily the administration was able to dupe everyone because they were scared as fuck.
My mother was living with me and had the TV on when the first plane hit the tower. I watched the second plane hit the tower live. The smartest thing Bush did was to ground all flights. After the Pentagon got hit. There were fighter jets in the air.
Everyone was concerned about whether the order would be given to shoot down a passenger plane. If it was suspected of being hijacked.
Then word of the passengers talking to loved ones and trying to overtake the hijackers in PA.
Everyone was wondering what was going to be next.
The sad thing about this tragedy was. There were red flags that something was going to happen. But the government agencies didn’t take heed!
Now our current leaders are allowing whomever to come into this country and could care less about it! I hold them responsible for anything else that might happen.First off you Yanks need to sort your dates out. None of that makes sense.
Secondly, despite being kind of numb. Those concerns were confirmed via various USAF/Special Forces.
Four jets had left Utah that day. None came back but despite a lockdown, planes left
I was in high school. Many teachers were still trying to teach, like they either didn’t care or couldn’t comprehend that we could be attacked. When the first plane hit, there was an announcement on the public address system, and a moment of silence. Some teachers got it and turned on the news, but it wasn’t until the second plane hit that the majority of them realized it wasn’t an accident or a minor event.
As a reminder of my age lol... I was in my early 30's when it happened and yes what you stated was very true for sure - and it went on for a bit past 9/12. But I think what came about after was the beginning of a sequence of events (fueled by the proliferation of social media) that created the current cesspool of divisiveness.
My town held a ceremony in the town square. About two or three hundred showed up There were a couple of speeches by local leaders but also a cop who had a very good singing voice who led the group in singing the National Anthem and other songs. As cynical as I am even I was touched.
I remember being mad cause that’s my birthday and it was apparently ruined in my childish ass brain 🤷🏻♀️
Unfortinely events like 9/11 etc are edge in peoples mind to the internet age, Back then it less in your face. It will be like that in the UK and commonwealth now the Queen has passed. Everyone thought she was immortal and couldnt think of her not being around
I really can’t talk about 9/11 in depth. Because it sickens me that former members of the government admitted the attacks were pre-planned yet Americans are highly confused about the truth of that horrific day. The U. S did business with the Saudi’s for decades. I’ve seen ex presidents like Bush Sr. shake hands with likes of Saddam Hussein and Saddam’s attempted invasion through the Iraqi military in Iran by US orders. The United States has caused many rifts and wars and even making things worse domestically for Americans themselves. It surprises me that there isn’t more violence on the streets. I want every country to be at peace. But the American “principles” mixed with Wahabbism and Zionism was the result of 9/11.
There is a major correlation between that unity and the resulting shitshow you have today. Just saying. Nationalism is generally not a force for good in the long run.
The rhetoric started right away as did the conspiracies. As it legitimized Bush's election many felt it was government perpetrated. And no it wasn't that uniting.
Yes. It was a really good feeling.
We lost all of that when Mr. Pinko Swiftboat Fake Injury Cut&Runner HanoiJanelover veteran backstabber Ketchup Kerry Flip-flopper decided to run for president. That everyone ate apples on this day and they called you little miss apple 🤣
Yeah I remember how everyone came together to help out, I’m not too far from where it happened and was close enough to see the smoke cloud in the sky
9/12 was a terrible time - certainly not "the good ol' days."
I for one do NOT miss it - or the entire 12-18 months that followed.
We had an idea of what had gone on but did not yet have all the pieces put together.
