The S&P rose 27% in 2021 on Biden's watch. It closed 2021 after Biden's first year in office at 4766.18 so clearly if you think Biden controls the stock market, he did something right all of last year. It's gone down this year and we all understand why, Ukraine, China's total lockdown, concerns about inflation, concerns about a worldwide recession. Basically most of which is not in Biden's control. Stock markets worldwide have gone down the same if not more than ours has because as a sophisticated investor such as yourself knows, the stock market moves on worldwide factors, not just U. S. factors. Trump had next to nothing to do with the market cratering in March 2020 and next to nothing with it rebounding after that. The history of the stock market has shown it goes up and then down, up and then down but ultimately ends up higher than it was before. It NEVER goes up in a straight line. And yet, by your clever manipulation of which data you chose to show, you're masking the fact that it was up big last year under Biden. And if you acknowledge that, then you would need to convince us Biden was a genius all of last year but for some reason on January 1, 2022, Biden decided he's going to make the market go down just for laughs.

And by your own admission, the S&P 500 is roughly the same now as it was when Trump left office with barely a 3% difference yet your question implies that it is 25% of what it was when Trump left going from an 801k to 201k "in just months" instead of 97% of what it was. 621 days into President Trump's presidency the S&P500 was up more than 29% from where it was on the day he took office. That's 34 percentage points better than the Democrats did. And that doesn't count the 40+ year record inflation that the Democrats reckless energy and fiscal policies started as soon as the took over. If you count that, it adds another 15% to the difference to make it almost 50% difference. Inflation was 1.4% on the day Biden took office and the Democrats started wrecking the economy.

Obviously, it is more nuanced than just democrats being in charge. Indeed, what the stock market ultimately is is a reflection of profits. An aggressive fight against inflation is thus going to take a toll on the stock market. But I think most people prefer that. However those who don't prefer it will never state the situation in those terms (knowing they are in the minority).

People expect inflation now and so they build it into their pricing. History tells us this is a very dangerous state.
