Are you for Biden pardoning marijuana convicts?

No, I am not for Biden pardoning marijuana convicts.
Yes, I believe weed should not be punished harshly (DUI if someone is stupid enough to smoke and drive intoxicated is an exception). I'm even for legalizing and regulating weed.
However, no matter how we may feel, reality is that these people broke a law on the books at the time of their crime and were sentenced within the guidelines of the law. We do not get to just choose which laws we will or will not listen to. ALL laws apply to us, not just the ones we like. If we do not like a law, we need to elect leaders who will change the law or bring cases to the courts and let the courts make rulings. While a law is on the books, it must be obeyed.
Take speeding for example. Most people do not like to be slowed down by speed limits and will exceed them and most people get away with it. However, when you get caught and get a ticket, you simply take the action of your consequences and move on. ALL laws should work like that. Also, presidential pardons have gone from being a rarely used tool to a tool used willy-nilly for political purposes.
Yes, but Republicans feel that if you are not white and committed a crime then you deserve to be punished in this life and in eternity but they forgive themselves for being cheating bastards and traitors.
Your racism has been demonstrated time and time again, without any facts or even a basic acknowledgement or understanding of reality. That actually goes for a number of topics you've commented on as well.
You might also want to be very careful about falsely calling someone a "Jan. 6er"- I can only imagine what the civil liability would be for such a false allegation.
The term "Jan. 6 er" has a specific meaning: www.washingtonian.com/.../ Not a good idea for you to use it.
Instead, you've doubled down. Here's a bit of advice: a retraction or apology is simple and solves most problems.
And as for your continued false claims of "support", even the article I've cited admits that there were substandard conditions in the DC jail. If wanting prisoners to be held in humane conditions and not to be subjected to malicious prosecution on political grounds is "support", your moral compass is broken. Support also has the specific meaning in some parts of law as "aid". Again, you don't want to go there.
At the end of the day, you are a totalitarian. You share the view of the Soviet Communist Party that political dissidents are an "unsocial crime" while violent street crime is a "social crime". In an era where cash bail has been established in a number of jurisdictions, the long detentions of many Jan. 6 defendants stand out for their lack of a speedy trial. One would have to be blind not to see the political motivations involved.
Absolutely. I know someone serving 15 years, on a third strike, for being in a car with someone else that had a small/personal use baggie in his pocket. He’s already served near ten of that. Missed both of his daughters teen years.
@Mamaganja I agree.
That’s terrible!
@Charliefretz329 Yes. Truly.
Absolutely

Low level drug offenses at the federal level are not as common as you might think. So those that where pardoned are drops in a bucket. Because the vast majority of people with drug charges at a federal level are not there for simply being caught with a bit of weed on them. They are there under major drug trafficking charges and organized crime charges.
Also those pardoned probably had several charges at a state level before it even got to the federal level. Because that is what it takes for such a simple charge to even land at the federal level. In general it's not as big of a deal or this amazingly good thing that people want to make it out to be. It's just an example of a politician needing a feel good moment due to a lot of people turning on them.
One of the few things this guy has done right. I do understand he's doing it out of realizing he's failing out of everything else. So he'll get the potheads and people like myself that just think criminal charges should be reserved for violent offenses. I'll take what I can get, but it's not going to buy my vote. I'll still vote for my ability to work and pay for shit to not be so shitty. Yay, stoners can get stoned without bullshit hanging over their head... I'm not a stoner but I agree with them. I still would like to not pay out the ass for gas just because he needs to start a war/conflict for a country he was extorting all the way back during Obama for political reasons.
One of the few times I agree with Mr. Biden! Wow!
This has been long overdue, and very brave to release so many potential and probably criminals into the streets. If people don't have food and security, they will do whatever it takes to survive... that's any animal that crawls around. A few will kill themselves, but most will do "crime".
So now the crime goes up though, so plan accordingly. That's reality. So they need support, which means more money printing... and I doubt we have the social net in place, so yea... say goodbye to your catalytic converter, motorcycle, car, and your wallet... maybe your teeth... maybe your life.
But I agree with him on the given offense, I'd likely have done the same.
Question is does he know what he just did and who came up with this idea?
Kinda, I do support legal weed, but right now the states that still have weed illegal aren’t going to give out plea deals for those to are dealing marijuana now instead of going to prison for 1-2 year they will be going to prison for 10-15 years because there is now no reason to provide a plea deal since the president is just going to pardon them in the first place. Cops really aren’t arresting those who simply have a joint or an eighth in their pocket and places like Wyoming they can’t you stop it out making the weed on Unsmokeable and it just rots into the earth. Those who were is prison for marijuana possession are those to took a plea deal in order to get a lighter sentence we’re actually dealing pounds and pounds of marijuana. So it just causes people to go to prison for a longer time than they would otherwise
There are at any given time a significant number of people in federal prisons who probably should be pardoned. Without knowing what any of these individual cases were, it's hard to say.
If we're talking about someone who didn't commit any derivative crimes related to the conviction and was merely a marijuana user, yes, they should be pardoned, but sometimes it's dealers who have done a whole lot more than merely possess marijuana that get convicted of possession because that's simply what could be proven. If it's dealers among those who got pardoned who committed derivative crimes related to the possession conviction, then no.
Like a lot of things in law, it depends on the facts of the case.
That is a very dictator thing to do, what should happen is congress should make it legal and in the process clear everyone convicted of it. Not a dictator... then again Biden is trying to be a dicator... so fits his MO.
Democrats are in control right now and should get on with that.
Or the right way to so say it... if you committed a crime and serving your time and waiting for congress.
Maybe you they shouldn't be a criminal. Just like that lady in Russia, what a freaking idiot... if it is illegal, don't do it.
Want it legal, get congress to change it... it isn't rocket science but lots of people are too stupid to understand that concept and whine when they get caught.
That's where I think they should actually make prisoners pay for their incarcerations', either work them while they are in prison or make them pay the bill when they get out with garnishments.
Not to make a profit, just to cover expenses.
Oh sure, let's free murderers and rapists too. Time to clean the covid infected prisons.
If you understand politics then you should know why Biden is doing this.
I am but I would like to do a study to see what percentage of these people are back behind bars within a couple of years.
He's the one who wrote the bills to lock them up in the first place, might as well free them since it's legal. But that doesn't score any points for me with Biden. It's TRUMP 2024
So a lot of repubs at the time. And by the way still are today…

Trump’s said a lot worse…

Biden bought huge shares in Fossil Fuel. BIDEN needed up deals with Saudia Arabia, Biden had a horrible pull out of Afghanistan, Biden voted agaisnt black kids in integration & said he didn't want his kids in a racist jungle, Biden signed Bill's for mass incarceration of blacks, Biden shut down our pipelines to supply oil, Biden stopped the production if the wall to close up the border to limit the mass amount of illegals we have coming. Biden ruined jobs with his extreme commie mandates for Federal workers to civilians all over but luckily the Higher courts rejected his BS but he still tried. Biden is not for the American people he has destroyed the American people and keeps destroying.
How if it's all facts and everything he said with his own voice and signed bills for do you know what a fact is? If not Google it?
Trump had thr lowest fad prices during his presidency I paid 2.77 got gas in California, built more jobs, had the economy flowing and shut the border down and made a strict policy for the illegals to not walk up in here. And canceled all the things like data and waste of money we used towards illegals. Trump also was working on sending Federal help to Chicago to stop the nasty crime rate. What is Biden doing nothing he enjoys black genocide and poor people. Trump didn't, also Trump was right to pull vases out of Germany turned of funding these European nations that ain't doing shit for us.
Nah, this is a step to completely legalise it on a federal level. Which would increase already high poverty level.
It's for "simple marijuana possession" I believe, which can be anything from a half ounce to 2 ounces. Yes, it's a great pardon.
It doesn't go far enough but a start. Of course, it's nothing but pandering for votes. You dems are desperate.
If something done correctly by dems is done, you call us desperate. If something isn’t done correctly, we’re incompetent. No, you’re just whiny assholes.
@blissinanarchy1 lmao. Cry harder about it. Democrats are desperate. They’ve thoroughly shredded our economy, made a complete shit show of covid response, bankrupted us to fund the corrupt country of Ukraine, allowed 5 million illegals to stream over the border while killing over 100,000 americans through fentanyl overdoses, and made Americans poorer. I’d rather be a whiny asshole than someone actively working to destroy the country.
Right… so denying minorities and women’s right doesn’t destroy it? Cuntservatives.
@blissinanarchy1 lmao. give me a minority right that’s been destroyed. Give me a woman’s right that was destroyed. I’ll wait while you make something up. idiot.
Abortion. Right to not be unreasonably seized. Fucking moron
@blissinanarchy1 Abortion isn’t a right. And who is unreasonably seized? What kind of retarded shit is this?
“ Of course, it's nothing but pandering for votes. You dems are desperate.”
Absolutely it is. And in October— right before midterms.
“Well everything else is falling to pieces, we’ve got to say we did SOMETHING. We’ve told them there is no recession and that inflation isn’t on the rise, but damnit, people just don’t believe it. Bank accounts don’t lie like people do, unfortunately...
“I know! Let’s make a token gesture to pardon a few thousand people. That looks good! Sort of... 🤷♂️ Oh but don’t talk about how it was my politics and legislation that happened to put many of those people in prison in the first place. But that was the 90s! That’s ancient history!
🙄
Hypocrites.
One of the few things he's gotten right. Prison for smoking marijuana is stupid.
Yes - this should never have happened to begin with.
There's nothing bad I can say about this, I don't care what his reasons are, this is a good thing.
Just another dumb ass move by some one trying to be a President. I can certainly understand a pardon for some of them, but ALL?
A person should not have to go to jail for smoking 🚬 mj
Great. More pandering to criminals.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised, though.
Smoke and mirrors to divert attention from the economy.
Read the name 🥴
