Why are we taking 4 years to have a trail and convict someone? Nicolas Cruz the parkland shooter shot up the school in February 2018 it’s now October 2022 so 4 years I thought we had a right to a swift and speedy trail? After your arrested it should be no more then 2 months before your trail. If the state take more then 2 months to come up with a case the state should be fined majorly loose federal funding until they can get everyone who’s been back locked through , The system and no one except the jury should get paid until there done with everyone one those trails. “ swift and speedy trail”. 4 years sir swift nor speedy neither is 6 months or a year 2 months or less or the states get fined and the people handling the case gets fined. If we have to much crime on the streets just then the city or state gets fined again, This is ridiculous.
Mostly it's because courtrooms are only functional a few hours a day. Kick that up, and you'd see ACTUAL speedy trials again. The reason you don't is mostly because people can't really accept that "accusation" and "guilt" are separate ideas- why do think they put Joe "death to due process" Biden in the Oval Office?

To be honest it's bullshit. He pled guilty. Chances are he was going to plea the same if the trial was 2 months later rather than 4 years.. And you're absolutely right, the constitution guarantees a speedy trial. Yet these idiotic judges and the legal system seems to believe otherwise.

I agree that it took way too long for the right punishment to be applied. He will probably be on parole in less than 30 years at this rate. The right is to a speedy and public trial, not just a speedy trial, though. Even the most minor infractions take months to get a trial date. The prosecution is ready to make their case pretty quickly but the entire process takes so long time due to the court's backlog of cases.
I bet you complain about criminals being let out on the streets by "leftists". Who runs Florida at the moment?
In my country the term is two months, there are some murderers who are released due to expiration of terms.
You'd have lots of criminals released because the backed up courts could not get to them.
I find this concept to be a quite fine idea!
Would increase shoot to kill and increase cops break the Geneva convention killing the surrendering
