Then I started thinking about it a little; for example that isn't fair to the trafficers but then maybe that is the point?

Is this a strategy to try to reduce the slave trade?

After all, what would be the point in buying one when it is both cheaper and less risky legally to just steal your own?

The whole thing is hard to understand though, I wouldn't want to buy or steal a person even if it were legal, I fucking hate people and locking them in a box is unlikely to make them more pleasant to be around.

So, presumably the only people who are buying and stealing people are those who enjoy causing the suffering of others, in which case I would have thought that stealing one would be all part of the fun of it.

So who the fuck are these people who are buying people?

That’s still kidnapping, but with an aggravating circumstance.

Many people convicted for kidnapping are parents/relatives who are involved in a custody battle; which is still a crime, but has a much lower mens rea. Some people who unlawfully confine a child are reacting impulsively, and often release the child unharmed.

But if you are involved in a conspiracy to insight kidnapping, you are, surely, more culpable. Aren’t you?

Hmm I’ve listened to too many lately, covered a lot of ground driving. But it blew my mind was about these young boys that escaped after 5 years in captivity… the dude got like 7 years but was out in like 5. But then years later he got caught trying to buy a fresh kid and got life in prison 🤔🤷‍♀️
