It's mostly reluctance to confront their own share of responsibility. The biggest (immediate) cause is the wrecking ball the country took to its own economy in name of "fighting Covid". What you're going to see, in coming years, is almost exactly what was seen in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, when the government basically went to war with civil liberties. It culminated in the war with Iraq, which, when it began, had about 50% of the public supporting it, despite Iraq having absolutely nothing to do with the attacks, except being next door to the country that DID.
How many of those 50% do you think support that war today? More importantly, how many of them do you think will ADMIT that they supported it back then? I've showed them text messages and emails they sent me; it doesn't matter. They CAN'T bring themselves to admit that they were wrong. This is even worse, because it's not bringing horror and suffering to strangers on the other side of the planet, but committing bioterrorism against their own families- it's a MUCH harder thing to admit that you can screw up that badly.
There are also bigger long-term causes: the shipping disruptions caused by the idiotically-managed attempt to abandon fossil fuels (not a stupid idea in theory, but you need to gradually phase them out, and more importantly, REPLACE them with something, and- this is critical, here- something THAT WILL ACTUALLY WORK, and isn't WORSE for the environment) further crippled things. But people are too busy pointing fingers at the "other side" to admit that cooperative action is needed to fix the situation- and I don't see that changing any time soon.

this has happened before in history, my first house I paid 10% interest and that was cheap back then, but prices were much lower. It's a double whammy now until prices reset. That was largely due to Vietnam war and... you guessed it... an oil fiasco... it appears cheap energy is a big deal! it's happened before that even...
people don't know what to do or whom to blame, so they are surviving until they start to hurt. country is well divided, which controls the populace.
The blame goes on the govt and policies for decades, but the people in power set it off with their oil policy. Govts had 0% interest rates for decade+... you weren't complaining then, they spent like drunken sailors and rarely said no to an expense. Wars... plenty of long expensive wars to pay for, bailouts, covid, etc... and we are now paying the price and it's just started.
We are losing our wealth while some get filthy rich, living beyond our means for a long time.
FED has been pumping cheap money for a long time. There was China before in the mix to buy them all in exchange of export products so there was no inflation. Now China went south so the money has nowhere to go resulting higher inflation.

The primary cause of the high inflation is the Democrat's war on fossil fuels. Their overspending is second. These two things are what should be protested.
It's funny seeing the Democrats, who work hand in glove with large corporations, trying to blame them for the obvious results of the Democrats' overspending and deliberate harm to fossil fuel industry, like making it hard for it to get financing.
Democratic Party talking points blaming companies who are all affected by the Democrats' deliberate efforts to cause energy price inflation and higher interest rates are utter BS.
It is irritating how the people who did all they could to protect the right of businesses to price gouge are now expecting to have power given to them because of the pain caused by that price gouging. And they are likely to get it. But if people fall for such tricks then we are driven by our instincts anyway instead of our knowledge, and so maybe deserve to be subjugated.
It is easily the biggest threat to working Americans, People are living paycheck to paycjheck, over half of Americans are behind on at least one of their utility bills, retirees are watching their 401K accounts shrink at the same time everything is getting more expensive. There will be many people who cannot afford to heat their homes this winter. It is all self inflicted is what makes everybody so angry.
The big inflation problem: 'People are getting poorer'
Among the major concerns about persistently high inflation is a decline in Americans' standard of living. Inflation measures how fast prices for goods and services such as gasoline, food, clothing, rent, travel and health care are increasing.
Ask your defence and armament industry what is their opinion on it.I've been through it multiple times, and it still sucks.
I just cut back on certain things, and save money that way, then I have the money to do stuff I really like to do, or go pick up a few side jobs to make up the extra costs.Almost all of it was caused by Biden denying drilling permits for oil in the USA and off our coast. Inflation will never be under control until that is reversed.
At the moment, people can't do anything about it other than weather the storm. Eventually, things will normalize.
It's all planned and controlled. A protest wouldn't change a thing
Some inflation is inevitable when money is created out of thin air like the U. S. government is fond of doing.
