I'm curious to know if they had a translator when they took the kid for treatment for his injuries. Because I'm sure that must have been a stressful time for the kids parents, not understanding what was going on. Maybe they thought he had been kidnapped. (Of course, this is all just speculation.). ... Or maybe the kid's parents had died.
