Wish American "men" would get off alpha, beta, etc. garbage. We used to refer to alpha, etc. in training dogs but not anymore... so are men who use these terms dogs?

Because what the guy in the above post describes as an "alpha", a term found predominantly in American society but not often elsewhere, is what other countries/societies would call a natural-born leader.

The United States is a country of ideas. We have much less regard for the sanctity of tradition than the Old World does; while you cling to old bad ideas, like astrology and the metric system, we constantly come up with new bad ideas, like the Kurgan hypothesis and diet root beer. Oh trust me, this phenomenon exists just as much in other countries as it does in the US. The only difference is that those countries don't use terms like alpha and beta. They are words used to describe certain personalities and social behaviors, that's all. Other countries just have other terms that aren't necessarily used to describe the same personalities and social behaviors in wolves.

The bigger question is, why are some people so butthurt about the use of these terms to describe those personalities and social behaviors? They are just words, and if we didn't used them we would be using other words. I don't get it.

I have spent a lot of time in Europe and have good friends and family in Spain, Portugal, UK and France.
