Why are so many Republicans staying silent on Trump’s call to “terminate” the US Constitution?

I think any Republican with a brain has got to realize by now that Trump is bad for their act. The issue is that the same people who vote for Trump are the people they need to vote for them personally to hold their seats. They’re clearly distancing themselves and being noncommittal when asked about his candidacy, but no one ever says “no”, and I think they’d ultimately support him over literally any Democrat, just in the name of partisanship.

However, the voters, some of the Trump people are HARDCORE. No matter what he does wrong, many of these people will have some sort of excuse to make for it, or some conspiracy theory about it to explain it away or paint him as the victim, and the one thing you can be absolutely sure of is that their egos won’t ever allow them to just say “you know what? I bet on the wrong horse. I got conned by a con man. Get this guy out of here and bring me a more suitable candidate.” The old Mark Twain quote applies here, “It’s easier to fool a man than it is to convince a man he’s been fooled.” Trump is the best who ever was and ever will be, and nothing will move them off of that position. They’re a lost cause until Trump finally dies.

I don’t think that’s a majority of Republicans, but it’s significant enough that the politicians need to appease that faction in order to keep their votes. Liz Cheney laid her lady-nuts down on the table and actually stood for something, and it cost her her job, and she knew it would. I don’t generally celebrate the political leanings of Cheney, but I’ll never say she doesn’t have integrity. Kevin McCarthy on the other hand…. definition of a fraud and a coward. Literally got this dude on tape privately condemning Jan 6th and Trump’s role/lack of action, then he has a backroom meeting, and he comes back out Team Trump. I mean, COME ON, MAN🙄🤦‍♂️😂 At least try to hide it, even a little, lmao.

So, regarding the Constitution, they’ll downplay it, or say he’s just talking wild, because these guys have a Constitution-boner like you read about, lmfao, ultimately they’ll defer to the Constitution. The fact that so many people would vote for him and managing an existence living side by side with them is much more my issue. Trump will likely die in the next 20 years or less, and I’ve hopefully got more time than that to worry about. It’s so much bigger than one politician, it’s our character as Americans that has me very concerned.

It’s also not crazy to continue to talk about him because he never disappeared as a public figure, he constantly teased running again in 2024, and now he’s finally declared it, so there’s nothing obsessive about somebody talking about him. Like you remember that he literally started his own social media platform so he could continue to have a megaphone to speak to the public. I don’t talk about George W Bush because he retired and went away. He just pops up every now and then. With Trump, it’s definitely like he never left, and his supporters don’t stop talking about him, so I’ll just never understand this angle of “it’s your fault for even thinking about him” when he goes out of his way to remain a figure in current events.

They're traitors. They already were when 147 Republican lawmakers were willing to vote against certification of states' electoral votes based on nothing but Trump's lies. They swore an oath to uphold the constitution, and they broke it.

The only major fraud in the 2020 election was the unlawful fake electors scheme where Republicans forged documentation in order to have their states' results thrown out and the presidency vote passed to the Republican majority House (the vote would have been 2 votes per state, not one per representative). That, and the continuous lying from Trump and his enablers.

Practically every excuse the right used when talking about Russian interference in 2016 ("they didn't do anything", "it was just some social media", "they didn't change a single vote") would be more honestly applied to the 2020 election.

It's not the Democrats' fault that Trump's team produced an October surprise that looked exactly like misinformation (and to this day there are massive doubts about how much of it is genuine). Idiots are blaming "the Biden administration" for things that happened before the election, and Trump was declaring that if he lost the election it would have been stolen back in August 2020, not to mention he was setting up the same lie in 2016 as well.

As much of a clown as Trump has become, I think the reason so many people are "silent" about him, as you say, is because some Americans don't fixate on just one issue or person at a time like our government wants us to. Some people are a little more focused on their lives and making enough money to pay bills than to whine on the internet all day. And some people are like me and hate Biden as much as Trump, so since Trump isn't the one actually serving as president, why would I give a shit about him? This is the first day I've checked this app in a while! I hardly get on social media either, but those people with issues are constantly on their phones. It's sad. And if we take my uncle and cousin for examples, they are unfortunately losers with at least 3 mental disorders each. My dad and my uncle (brothers) grew up exactly the same yet became shockingly different people. Hell, the worst part is I have Dysthymia, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder (just like my uncle), but I loathe being a victim and hate giving up on anything, while he is a whiny, bullying loser who loves being a victim and loves quitting things or putting down others and the things they enjoy.
