For me I think of autism, but then I think they are a person with ADHD wanting people to assume they have autism
It’s a relatively new word and non medical from what I understand. Never really put into practice until the rise of tiktok and faking disabilities to put themselves on moral high ground or to garner attention.
Those terrible "Divergent" Hunger Games-like movies with Shailene Woodley as "Tris." My friend was an extra in the first one.
But what you WANT me to say is, learning disabilities or slight mental illness.
That's not what first comes to my mind, though!
Certain kind of Autism like Asperger enable exceptional abilities that gives a enormous advantage in a ever more technical economies.
At least if it didn't come with the draw back of significantly reduced social processing skills. The effect of said advantage evolutionary speaking is thus directly related to the rules of the cultural environment.
A more Northern and industrial culture for example much more reliant upon such planning and technical abilities may have an ordered socially that requires far less of the social abilities. Thus enabling people with Asperger to more thrive driving said cultures ahead with large technical and industrial advantages.
However as the demand for said skills to survive dwindles, as is more the case in less seasonal southern environments the social environment becomes more important and the Asperger type brains enormous technical advantages cease to outweigh their social short comings.
I don't think people fake disabilities. I mean yeah maybe some require less adaptions/attention but only weirdos or attention seekers fake this kinda stuff

That we wouldn't have scientists without it. The greatest minds are often it. So I think of Hawkings, Einstein first.
As to the reason I don't just think autism right away is because most people when saying autism just say that rather than announcing they are neurodivergent.
Brain wiring is a screwed up.
