There's a high profile murder case right now, and I found the Pinterest boards of several of the victims. I was told to submit the links to the FBI because they're investigating the case so I did, but now that I'm thinking about it, it seems really dumb... I'm worried I'm going to get in trouble lol. Is that rational?
intentionally lying would get you in trouble. In good faith you should be fine. It's kinda like calling 911 and not assuming 3 other people are doing the same thing. It creates a better safety net even if overly redundant.

If it's something fake, then yes; if it's something that turns out to be useless, then no.
Prank calling 911 is a crime. What you did wasn’t really anything. It’s their choice on if it’s evidence or not.
No! The jails are already full. You'll be just fine.

Better to go thou your local police only, they are at least accountable to courts not hand picked by the people giving them their orders.
A lot of tips don’t pan out in high profile cases. As long as you didn’t intentionally lie or submit something false, you should be ok.
You'll be fine. 99% of the tips law enforcement receives are useless
If you think it'll help in the slightest do it. They'll decide whether it's a waste of thier time or not.
If they didn't want tips they wouldn't have asked for them. They already know that 90% or more are going to be useless. At least your tips are relevant to the case.
Don't waste their time.
If it’s not legitimate yea. That’s a false report
