Financial analyst fired for having an Only Fans - thoughts?

Question

This happened right in my region's capital - a financial analyst claimed she was fired by her company for moonlighting an Only Fans, but an investigation into the matter revealed that she was on a six-month contract that the company chose to not renew - so she wasn't actually fired.

The woman claims she doesn't mind since she's gotten offers from other companies once the story was known (I wonder why exactly?) but this sparked a debate - some say the company was in the right, since this activity could damage the company image, other claims that what an employee does off the clock it's their business only.

See, the fact that she was actually a 6-month contract worker, and not an employee, and then she makes this big legal stink about it because she's incensed...

People can do whatever they want. Some things people do are illegal; some are not. I'm not speaking on legalities. But there are consequences to actions, and decisions, and myself and a lot of people nowadays are getting fed up with this extremism in the culture today (in the West, I guess?) which is pushing for seemingly zero limitations on what people do, AND no criticism, critique, judgment, or opinion on what people do. That's absolutely ridiculous. These people are need to stop being so self-righteous, as if their wants and preferences outweigh everyone else's. You don't get to do anything you want, and then bark at people because they don't support you.

Sex work (any sexual activity, for the pleasure of others, that earns money) used to fall into the category of the illicit, or whatever we should label it. Certainly, private.

Many people engage in sexual activities for the pleasure of it. Earning money doing it, sex for profit, and especially earning one's living doing it, is a whole different animal.

No one should be forced to employ her. I would never hire someone who made income in the sex trade.

When you start working in most jobs barring the service industry or retail you sign an agreement about your conduct inside and outside the work place. Right or wrong you've signed it. This is why when applying for a job it may be a good idea to delete your Facebook and Instagram. You see it with most proffessionals they barely have a presence on Facebook. Most employers would feel an employee with an onlyfans account would damage their company, be disruptive on the workplace and shows a clear lack of judgement. I mean would you want a lawyer with an onlyfans account? Or a doctor or an accountant. If they don't know not to plaster their ass on onlyfans how can you trust them with your buisness?

Women don't seem to get that but I'd you look at most guys who f*ck on only glans they are careful that their face isn't shown. Most women don't make much money from onlyfans. There'd have to be something really special about you, maybe giant tits, a fat ass or being really short and the videos would have to be well shot and well done.

When you are not acting as mayor of your city, you are "off the clock" but that doesn't mean that you can do whatever you want without repercussions, does it? There are certain professions in which morals and character have an impact on reputation and image; it may be illogical but that is the way it is. Most people would agree that someone who works as a prostitute at night should not be teaching children during the day, or someone who uses drugs at night should not be a physician during the day.

Companies are right in being concerned about their image. When I am hired at a law firm, I know that any unfavorable publicity about me subjects me to being dismissed as an employee, and that is just the way it is!

It always amazes me how humans can condone rape and murder, but when it comes to victimless crimes, they draw the line. "This must stop!" "I don't mind children getting their organs harvested by the drug cartel, but this 'Only Fans' thing must be stopped!"

Whatever the circumstances, the only reason companies do this is because they're scared of the unknown. They all have bodies, they all know what they look like nude and with underwear on, most people watch porn it's not new and it's nothing to be ashamed of. If people fire them for it then they should stick to that choice and stop watching porn, bet they soon change their mind. If I could pull it off I would totally go into that industry, it doesn't desrve the stigma around it.

It depends on the job. I think certain jobs (teachers, ministers, police, fire, government) have the right to require a certain moral standing. Others, not so much.

People saying the company is wrong are stupid. That would be like blaming a company for firing a wanted criminal. The company was in the right. They do not, and SHOULD not want online strippers as part of their team.
