In the UK individual countries can make their own laws as long as they don't disadvantage the UK as a whole. For example the drink drive limit in Scotland is 50mg/100ml of blood compared to England/Wales 80mg/100ml
However laws can be vetoed if they are believed to have an “adverse effect” on laws which the UK parliament has ultimate jurisdiction over. To date, this veto has never been applied

it allows anybody who has been living in their prefered gender for over 3 months that are over the age of 18 to fill out a form
its also open to people between 16 and 18 if theyve been living in their gender for 6 months
it makes falsely filling it out a criminal offence with up to 2 years in jail and has a 3 month "mind change" window

and frankly if the UK blocks it its not gonna do any good for keeping the UK - not just by making Scotland hate it even more but with Wales aiming to be Europe's most LGBT friendly country (according to deputy minister for social partnership and a gay woman, Hannah Blythyn) i don't think it would bode well for welsh support of the union by suggesting the UK's government will prevent our aims
@Guffrus because it curtails gatekeeping, which reports have revealed can be far worse in England than the US and with the NHS supporting GET which is really conversion therapy and sees transition as a failure policy has backed up reports.
Gatekeeping is the practice of providers dragging on the process to begin or continue transition, telling the patient that they will get there eventually, but with the real intent of never permitting the patient to go any further in order to "save them/ their soul from themselves" and is usually guided more on the clinicians own perception of reality or religious/ political beliefs than what is in the best interest of the patient medically.
by the way, people do need to be saved from themselves which is why something like this should not be rushed.
Don't tell me that the NHS is religiously motivated to force their perceptions of reality on their patients.
There was post on here a while back about a guy who had his cock and balls removed because he decided he was a lady, the NHS did that for him and he instantly realised it was the wrong thing to do and took legal action against the NHS for not making sure he was making an informed decision.

To be cynical, it's largely a ploy to force Westminster to the Scottish independence table.
As if Westminster "blocks" the bill, then it puts the two countries at odds. If it does nothing, then it means Scotland can dominate English and Welsh law.
On the bill itself, it's largely bullshit. The kid can fill all the forms they like, it's still an independent medical decision to be made on if they are suitable and mentally able.
Based solely on what you wrote, it sounds like it makes it easier and thus I'd argue it is more advantageous, not less and thus it should stand. That said, I'm a Yankee American and don't wish to pass judgement on another nation's laws. Well, at least not since 1776...
How would it hurt women if I at 16 put my gender as whatever I wanted it to be? Which I've done forever on anything that asks that question sometimes I put female sometimes I put male and legally no one can stop me from doing that nor does it hurt anyone unless those classifications somehow come to life and bash people lol.

I could see this might be a problem for the UK as a whole. Suppose a Scottish transgendered woman moves to London. What gender do they put on their job application? or application for assistance, recognizing that men and women may get different types of assistance?
UK Parliament should either block the Scottish law or adopt it for the entire UK.
I don't see an issue with legally changing the gender you were assigned at birth, as long as you look like that gender, and are undergoing procedures. Otherwise it could be problematic for law enforcement. In fact, if you do undergo procedures, then I think you should be legally required to register your new gender.
The Gender reform bill passed by MSPs despite SNP rebellion against Scottish Government today, faces veto under never-before-used legal powers, to block it from receiving Royal Assent.
Also think of the number of votes the SNP just lost, as WOMEN walk away from them, just wait for the next election it could be carnage for the SNP.
If they do this why simply not just remove the parameter from the records. Because the reason it's there is biological, not wishes and make believe. Because it there for doctors and population statistics. That get corrupted if you are allowed to change it to the wrong state.

They are free to block the bill if they wish. And if they do end up blocking it, obviously those outside of UK who have something against them blocking it should mind their own business and not complain about it, unless of course the sake of equality you also think that if they doesnot block it then anyone outside of UK absolutely must have the right to voice their justified complaints about blockings of this stupid bill.
