Is it strange for a White Slavic guy to be fascinated with South Asian culture?

I know the region has problems and the culture is far from perfect, but the region and culture has always seemed so exotic to me. "Temple of Doom" was my favorite Indiana Jones movie as a kid, and it was around age 10 that I first remember falling in love with Desi culture. I don't know how much I would like it if I actually went there, but I've always loved the wildlife, the art and architecture, the festivals, the Bollywood films and music, the women, their fashion and beauty standards, the barefootedness, their ancient sex culture, their yoga poses, their accents, their writing, their folklore, their rituals, their knowledge of math and computers, and recently their food. Also, how they've managed to modernize while at the same time keeping their traditional culture and values. It's not like I wanna adopt and become part of that culture, I'm not that extreme, and of course I don't like everything, but South Asian culture in general just seems so exotic and different from what I'm used to, but my White family and friends always struggle to understand why I'm so fascinated with it, especially since South Asians don't have the best reputation and the majority of White people are into EAST/SE Asian culture.

Not strange I know many White guys who are interested in South Asian countries (though in France it's more Vietnam they're interested in cause it used to belong to France and there's a mix of culture).

Welcome back mon ami. I remember before you said you think it's weird that I like Indian girls though, 'cuz they don't like White people.

I was actually watching stuff on Vietnam the past couple nights. I not particularly fond of Asia anymore, but I would be open to visiting Vietnam. I mainly wanna see the limestone islands, and I think Vietnam would be better then Thailand or the Philippines. Vietnam seems more pleasant, and they have pretty colonial towns and French restaurants, so food wouldn't be a problem either. And there's a lot of Indian girls that go there too :p, so I think I will visit Vietnam some day.

I think liking the people and being interested in a culture is not the same things, I like Russian culture though the people seem really violent.
And I'm interested in Nordics countries though I highly doubt I would be able to live there since I'm so different from the people they're more too progressive for me since I'm traditional.

Vietnamese food is not bad according to what people have told me, I never tasted it except nems though and the colonial house are very beautiful

Yeah I feel the same. I always thought Russian culture was very cool, I still kind of do, but I don't like Russian people either.
Indian girls aren't as bad as the men though, the only problem is, the ones who like foreigners are usually socially progressive.

Actually I read Norway is the only Nordic country where the majority of the population is Conservative, though I read the government is also woke. But I read many Nordic people are starting to lean right because of immigrants, except Iceland which is the most liberal country on earth. I wouldn't wanna live in any of them though 'cuz of the weather and high prices.
And the only Nordic country I'm really interested in visiting now is Norway. I did wanna go to Iceland, but it's not worth it since we have the same kind of stuff here. I've already been to Denmark and didn't like it, though I would like to visit Bornholm. Sweden maybe just for a day or two.

Yeah, Vietnamese food is quite popular in the U. S., but the original versions are always different. It also ranks number 2 for food poisoning.

No, not strange at all. I have an interest in Russian culture and history, and I've never been anywhere near the place.

I did too. Still kind of do, although after having had the misfortune of being stuck on a tour with Russian tourists, I kind of understand why they're so hated. I'm not a fan of Putin anymore either and I certainly don't wanna go there like before. I still think Russian culture is cool, but I don't dare say that in the world.

They don't like their kind around here. My mom deliberately told some people at the store that she's from Russia and they started screaming at her even the clerk

Tucker Carlson (Conservative news host) is always criticizing Ukraine and almost lost his job and his own colleagues and even other conservatives at other netwark were calling him a traitor. I told you, Conservatives are just as moronic as Liberals. I don't like Russians either, but the level State sanctioned anti-Russian propaganda in this country is sickening. They literally forced a Russian news netwark to shutdown. There was propaganda before the war, but not like this.

Too many people have fallen for the pro-Ukrainian propaganda, because they can't actually use what's between their ears to question the lies they're being told. It's sickening.
