Why are so many people defending the Texas diner shooter?

Granted, no one had anyway of knowing the perp had a fake gun, but the guy had already finished with the robbery and was walking out the door. And this self proclaimed "hero", shot him from behind.

I don't for one second but the argument that the guy was a threat while he was walking out. And the guy who shot him was so cocky and left the scene, instead of waiting for police like he's supposed to. And, he tampered with evidence. Not to mention how many people he potentially traumatized. Yet he himself seemed rather unfazed by the fact that he just killed a guy.

I never thought I'd say this, but I actually sympathize with the robber here. As much as I hate thieves, and support vigilante justice, nothing the guy did was worth dieing over.

What kind of man shoots someone from behind who is walking out the door? The guy deserves to be charged. He's a murderer with itchy trigger fingers, just like the guy that shot the Moroccan guy.

Bring on the angry comments. I don't know how anyone can justify shooting a man from behind who is exiting the building.

I support the customer and not the criminal.

Plus this criminal has a criminal past of being part of killing someone in 2013 and was also charged with violence against his girlfriend in December of 2022. Then a month later he does this and is dead.

The system won't do its job of keeping people like him locked up. Toy gun is irrelevant because at the time you have to assume it is real.

We also don't know if he is truly leaving for good or as he walks towards the entrance he could turn around and start shooting everyone.

That is how I would feel if I was in there. Is he going to turn around and decide to eliminate any witnesses?

Taking out a thug from behind is fine by me, the customer seems to struggle trying to get his gun out for a few seconds, perhaps had he not, he would of shot him sooner.

In the heat of the moment when someone makes a decision to say draw their gun to shoot a criminal, if the situation changes, their decisions will lag behind due to high adrenaline and other extenuating factors of being under high duress and stress.

It is easy to arm chair judge it afterwards when not in that situation yourself.

As far as I am concerned though, he did society a favor by stopping the criminal from doing any future crimes.

Plus he was able to return all the stolen stuff, it isn't like police are known to return evidence, it gets lost all the time. Many times, guns are taken in investigations or other evidence and it gets lost or destroyed. Even in self defense cases where it is deemed justified.

Totally against the constitution to steal property without compensating for it.

Had the police got him and then kept it all for evidence, chances are the victims never would of got their stolen stuff back.

Only thing the customer should be charged with is leaving the scene, should be some minor charge though, nothing major, some sort of infraction would do just fine and a small fine.

Yeah well, I didn't know that, and I'm sure as hell certain the shooter didn't know that. It's a matter of principle.

You do shoot someone for something they might do, police do it all the time.

Police will shoot someone because they don't know what they are going to do, guys with fake guns do it all the time, suicide by cop.

I would not wait for someone to start shooting first, by then it is too late. Unless he/she is a terrible shot, but would have no idea how good someone is until it is too late.

He also had to wait until he could get the jump on the criminal, had he drawn and it was a real gun, then he would of been shot first. He also had to wait until his own shots would not pass through the criminal and hit someone else. Always be aware of where a bullet is going to travel. Even through walls into others.

Where he picked seemed the most safe.
