So here is my view
1) Our border should be secure. The wall needs to be built immediately. Anyone who hires illegal immigrants should be fined tremendously.
2) Drugs should be legal. The government shouldn’t tell adults what they can put in their body.
3) Under no circumstance should you be allowed to do drugs on the street and turn every city into Kensington in Philly or Portland. Decent people have the right to live in the cities they pay for without that garbage.

I grew up in the 80 when dope was everywhere. There was only one kid i knew that died from an OD. He was really a big druggie and it was no surprise.
Msany kids would drink alcohol. Mostly beer but in college some kids drank hard liquior and there was this stuff called Everclear that was pure alcohol. It was really nasty stuff but it would get you reallly drunk but it was not the nice buzz you got from vodka or tequila. It was like bein drunk and hung over at the same time. That stuff would kill you if you were not careful. I never knew anyone that died from it.

Yes, but illegal drugs cause much more damage. I grew up in the 80s when this stuff was everywhere. There was a lot of acid and speed around. I saw kids get derailed. It was like the light inside them went out. They no longer had any ambitious besides getting high. I used to wonder if it was like a chemical lobotomy. This stuff pretty much disappeared for a while. I thinkvit was because so many people had problems after. It is disturbing to see it making a comeback.

@exitseven alcohol and tobacco cause billions in damage. And again, my point is not to debate the relative damage of such chemicals, but rather that it's easier for underage people to get illicit drugs than it is for them to get legal drugs.

@goaded. The fact is that fenyanyl deaths in this country spiked as soon as Biden opened the southern border. The seizures of large amounts of the drug increased as well. It doesn't take a genius to see that the two things are related

@exitseven Crap. There was a 26% increase in deaths in 2021, down from a 50% increase in 2020, while Trump was president. In 2016, there were fewer than 20,000 deaths in the US, by 2020 it was over 56,000. It's still going up, but it's a continuation of a longer trend.

In 2016, the number of fentanyl deaths was under 20,000, in 2020, it was over 56,000.

It had nothing to do with "opening" the southern border (which also hasn't happened) and like I reported, at least one white nazi was caught smuggling 15kg into the country.

Maybe we should ignore our history and see what happens if we ban alcohol again or should we pick up a history book?

the two answers are both wrong. The situation at the border has gotten so bad it will take military intervention to turn back the invasion and to defeat the cartels. We cannot let fentanyl kill another hundred thousand Americans in 2023.
