What do you think is the main reason that former party animals stop their ways to seek pleasure and start focusing on God and/or spirituality?

I actually know several people who partied every weekend, getting high and drunk and being promiscuous, but they are now going to church every weekend

I stopped that shit because chasing short term pleasure destroys your life by distracting you from what really matters.
It makes you happy with nothing.
I guess some people just need a "higher power" to get them off that track.
But in my opinion, that's just another way to take the responsibility off themselves and put it in "God's hands".
Still, whatever helps them get back on track

They get bored and want something they class as more meaningful. Religion is there to fill a void just like what the partying was doing really but it wasn't convincing themselves no more so religion it is.
