Not concerned but its noticeable when there's a lack of diversity or when there is forced diversity just to draw in extra attention.
In my city we have what we call “black” walmart, “white” walmart and “mixed” walmart. Everyone still shops at all three (along with non-walmart grocery stores) but its not hard to tell which is predominately appealing to each race. Lack of diversity isn't going to stop me from shopping somewhere.
Now in terms of working somewhere, yes it likely would. I see the commentary/feedback/insults a lot of people get when there is a lack of diversity in a classroom or workplace. The things my mom goes through at work, shit... couldnt be me. I wouldve cursed someone out and quit. Its always little stereotypical jabs made at her regarding her race but they expect her to laugh it off as a joke. I haven't had many issues regarding ethnicity/race in my city so I can’t speak on it much but if i was in her place or even in the room when the shit was happening, I’d shut it down. Money isn't everything to me.
Now In terms of traveling to other countries, it bothers me a little that i might not see too much diversity if i went to Australia but whatever, I just wanna have a good time. However, it does bother me enough to where i wouldn't visit Austria where there's probably even more lack of diversity.
Long story short, I’d still support any store/restaurant/etc even if it lacked diversity. But i would not if the owner was throwing insults or acting funny. I remember this one prom dress store and the lady did not want to sell to a poc. She kept trying to dress up my white friend and mugged me so i stepped outside. My friend called her out and said she’d never buy from that lady. Loved that moment. But that same friend turned out to just be frontin. Found out her true colors later on.
In terms of organizations/causes/politics, i dont pay much attention to that. I only act on what i’m experiencing or see upfront. Also, I really don’t know why i typed this all out because you never really respond to out opinions but maybe someone else will read it and provide feedback or something 🤷♀️

I'm more concerned about forced diversity than I am with achieving diversity itself. We need equal opportunity and fairness, and then we need to let people succeed (or fail) based on merit.
I have a brother who's in medical school. He's way smarter than me, or at least more focused and disciplined. He had straight A's all the way through jr. high and high school, and actually started taking university classes during his junior year in high school. He studied biomedical engineering on scholarship at the same major university in our hometown and got straight A's all the way through that as well, and graduated summa cum laude. He was involved in multiple research projects during college and had several papers published. He tutored his classmates and was the TA for one class or another during most of his undergraduate work. He did a bunch of community service projects during high school and college too, which is highly regarded on applications to medical schools.
All that to say he was clearly one of the best qualified candidates for the medical school where he did his undergrad, which is where he wanted to go to med school so he could stay near home. He was not accepted because he was a white male. Six of his classmates from the biomedical program were accepted. He knew every one of them as he had tutored and/or TA'ed for all of them. Not one was nearly as well qualified as him, but they were all female and/or minorities. He ended up at a better school out of state, but it was still a disappointment for him and us that he wasn't able to stay local when he had done literally everything right, with the exception of his skin color and gender.
That kind of forced diversity is what I'm talking about. It's unhealthy and unfair. As long as things are fair and people are treated equally, we should just let diversity happen naturally, not try to force it at the expense of others.
I'm not. I'm concerned about the fact that a person's race or nationality or ethnic background is considered enough of a qualification for a job, or a student slot in a university, REGARDLESS of qualifications! That's the way to disaster. Merit needs to matter! See the problem is, we have moved from trying to guarantee equality of opportunity, which is a good thing and something to strive for, to a guaranteed equality of results, which is impossible, because as human beings, we are not mass-produced. We are NOT all exactly the same. People have different talents and abilities, and not everyone can do everything equally well. That should be obvious. We need to return to common sense in this country and STOP making EVERYTHING all about race, STOP making EVERYTHING all about gender identification, and stop finding a hundred thousand reasons to get offended over anything and everything!

u In my personal life, I am concerned about finding the best products and services, having loyal friends, and having a romantic partner who l love and who loves me. At work, I want to hire the best employees who help me do my best work. If any of that means associating with people who don't look like me, that's okay. But I am not interested in associating with people simply because they look different.

I've noticed that "diversity" lately just means "kill everyone who's white or Christian, and replace them with whoever isn't."
That "equity" just means envy, spite, and revenge.
That "inclusion" is really an excuse to steal from one party, make sure everyone who isn't that one party gets a cut of the take, and then gaslight the victim into feeling ashamed of being offended at being robbed - and at being the one party that it's somehow okay to exclude!

I am a nerd. Nerd culture is, by its nature, rather diverse. The hucksters pushing diversity as a goal saw this and thought we'd be easy prey- they misunderstood. Nerd culture isn't diverse because that's a goal; it's because we're staunchly meritocratic: if you know you're stuff, or you're willing to learn, you can hang with the nerds regardless of your skin color, faith, or sex. If you don't, you're going to have a harder time. If you pretend to be, you're just going to piss us off.
I agree with Diversity but as more variations of diversity they are they start to classify us as being in a thrid world country myself in Latin America, having an average education and when you start learning about slavery and how people segregate each other really makes you feel like they don't care, they were good for the economy and the American and British wanted more slaves and came into a conversation with us since we are mixed do to the Spanish coming most of us being mestizos, and said anyone with a Black mother is considered to be Black and therefore a slave, such lenghts just to figure out my race that shouldn't matter but we are a reflection upon our ancestors if we don't learn we will never change especially with more diversity groups come along the way, it should exist but narcissists don't like different.
I don't know, the question seems weird. Because I don't know why people like a lack of diversity. It would totally bore me eating the same food, listening to the same music, talking to people who have the same opinions or folks who are members of the same culture.
But then here is the fact that, I don't know what most folks define as diversity. Some folks actually think if they have people who have different skin colors, that's diversity. And it isn't. I can have diversity with a Russian, a Latvian, a Turkish citizen, and an Israeli Jew. These people could have very different worldviews, languages, cultures, and traditions.
So it is kind of a weird question without any context. People may think diverse music is listening to every single rock band in existence.
Live one’s life with a Biblical Ethic and one doesn’t not worry about this kind of thing because the behavior supersedes it. Excess of 20 foreign lands and associated cultures intermingle with whatever else 5000 on a Sunday is at the church ⛪️ and seminary.

I don't support or accept racism but I'm not a social justice politician, I just try to respect people and be open minded. I do not buy from businesses I do not like for cultural or ethnic reasons. I just avoid being rude to people or being aloof of people for their culture or race or religion. I do not believe in equality of compensation but I believe in inequality of opportunity. All people get a chance to be my friend if I have time to say hi to them. Not everybody gets a chance to get my phone number or go on a date with me.

If diversity happens it has to be natural and organic. You can't force it.
Imagine rolling 20 dice onto a table and stating "right, there's too many 5s and not enough 3s. We need to include more 3s". Thats what society is doing with people and its ridiculous. Just roll the dice and leave them where they land.
Lets say I own a business and need to hire. I will not go out of my way to hire as diverse a group as I can. Whoever applies, applies. And whoever is most qualified to do the job, will get the job. Plain and simple.

Diversity means you can actually educate yourself about the world. You can learn about other cultures, foods, religions and become more intelligent due to it. Numerous inventions, discoveries, etc. that changed world for the better was from other cultures.

I'm very concerned. Diversity and Inclusion is destroying the country. Equity is just another word for never ending forced charity stolen from the productive and handed to the unproductive. The concept of equity destroys human potential because those that are succeeding have the fruits of their success stolen and those that aren't succeeding are fooled into thinking that they are not the ones responsible for improving their own life, removing the pressure for them to try as hard as they can. How many deaths have their been due to affirmative action preventing the most talented from becoming medical researchers, automotive engineers, heart surgeons, firemen, etc.
I have no feelings about it one way or the other, at work I only care if the people I'm working with can do their jobs with the same professionalism and skill that I have.
I have found over the years that anyone who tries to push a DIE Agenda is only interested in sowing division and not any kind of unity, and I've always promoted unit integrity irrespective of the race, age, or gender of those I'm working with, we always had each others backs.

There's diversity and there's forced diversity. Diversity, where people come together naturally and feel comfortable with it is a good thing. Diversity that is forced through quotas and such is divisive and destructive. If an organization or company is spouting about diversity for all to hear, that's generally forced diversity, and I want nothing to do with that.

that said, too much diversity to me is negative. I like my culure and certain value systems. I don't need every culture on the planet around me. I can visit a different culture, but I want to leave and go "home" after a while.
from my experience , if you ever work at a place where there is no diversity at all, I can guarantee you that there is discrimination going on. (this is especially true if you live in a big modern city with diversity).
I work in NYC and often times I would walk in a company and I would observe that 90% of their employees are white. Meanwhile the rest of the city is predominantly non white. Thats an indicator of racism. Its disgusting.

I'm basically not concerned about it at all. We have extremely enforceable laws in place to prevent discrimination in employment and those laws basically work. Occasionally, you'll have some shit bird trying to be discriminatory, but people's problems at this point aren't happening because of their demographics.
There is legally mandated diversity, which is racism under another name, which I do not support, and I believe causes too many issues.. And then there is natural diversity, which I'm a huge fan of.

thats why I don't buy from any woke spouting companies. the problem with this is that if any big company doesn't actively discriminate against white and even Asian males they are at risk of a discrimination lawsuit from women and blacks. My employer has spent millions executing and documenting all of their DEI efforts (discrimination) and hired a black female head of HR and a black head of legal and it is the best insulation we could have against a discrimination lawsuit from women or blacks. You can't turn on your computer without reading a story about donations to blacks or women or an underserving promotion. Don't look for a story on an Asian or white male though, we're not at risk of a lawsuit from them so fuck em.
I'm not concerned about the diversity of where I buy and I'm as likely as shopping from the Asian shop as I am from the African shop as I am from the Eadtern European shop etc.
That said, if a panel is discussing women problems I want to see women present, if it's discussing disabled people problems I want to see disabled people there etc.
As someone who'd probably be seen as a minority in a global scale, I believe diversity shouldn't be forced, talent comes first. But it's undeniable that there's a certain level of bias towards minorities so some form of accomodation should be in place for them to get opportunities to prove themselves. Don't gives us free things, give us the equal chance to earn those things.

Indians were not involved in 9/11. Most Indians are Hindus, and do not get along with Muslims, who WERE involved in 9/11. So your dislike and mistrust is misplaced. And South Asians who wear turbans are usually Sikhs, who certainly were not involved in 9/11. Sikhs are not Muslims. You really need to make certain distinctions, rather than smear a whole geographical region and everyone who lives there or comes from there. Make the intellectual effort to do so!

Well, I live in the U. S. so for me diversity is normal. Granted, I think unity is strength as long as you're uniting with the right people. However, I don't think diversity should be forcefully imposed on societies who do not want it.

I assess and care for patients with mental disorders. It makes no difference to me what color or race or sexual orientation they are. All I care about is what I can do to help them to feel better and to protect them.
