I think the ever growing mental health problems in this world, are a huge factor!! But the rate we are going, and the way that this world is run by money and not compassion, it'll only get worse, and we will die out before we are able to fix it?

I was thinking about this, and even though I was talking about humans, it is common with ALL species, really. Whether they kill their own kind, or not.. it does seem to be evolutionary... 🤔🤔🤔

I think it is inevitable. I think we will either do ourselves in via war eventually as there a just too many madmen at the switch willing to kill over differences of religion, opinion, morals, etc. Either that or we will simply die from a mass disease that we cannot suppress or find a cure for. Stuff like COVID is just natures way of tipping towards this direction. All other animals have a way of balancing themselves on this earth whether they are part of the food chain or disease. We are obviously not part of the food chain... so the latter will come for us.

We're deep down apes and have brains evolved in and for the wild stone age. For hundreds of millions of years violence was needed to survive and breed. It's a part of our nature, and with enough people that just plays out to murder.

Now, no one can say what the world will look like on the distant future but if we are still in a form of natural (or maybe even unnatural) selection on a broad level as a species that may actually change.

If we are able to maintain a civilized state for tens of millions of years, it may be that on that incredible scale the traits of peace and cooperation do come out on top to match the needs of the new environment.

Now I don't know that will happen, or if it's even possible. But I would not be entirely suprised if a version of humanity exists in a hundred million years that murder rates will be a fractionof a. fraction of what it is now

Inevitable... We're still animals. But with our intelligence we seek conflict. Whether it's about drugs, food, ground, or a picture someone posted. We'll argue about it. Fight about it. Sometimes that gets physical.

We're on top because of our brain. Nothing else. If a cat falls from a tree it'll be fine. If you push a man down the stairs, he might not survive. We have a brain, but we're still fragile creatures. Injury easily happens. We just have more destructive tools than the cat to go about it.

Culture also plays a part, in some places thieves and rapists get executed by the people on the spot. Get their limbs and skulls bashed in with a plank, hung, stoned, set on fire. Murder disguised under the cloak of justice.

Only during times of overpopulation whilst resources are scarce. Not when there are too few humans in an abudance of resources. Chinese understood it and prospeted.
But explain that to India, Pakistan, Africa (they've already gone overboard twice over).

Yes cause humans are the problem, we are devolving, the only creatures on earth that are devolving because we are too busy being against each other, once there was separation and the creation of other countries, that broke our unity and eventually we started turning on each other, now there's these things we call war that we consider normal.

It's all one big corrupt system, every company in the world is run by like 6 to 8 huge companies and those companies are controlled by big pharma, all the foods abuse chemicals, sugar and sodium to slowly kill us to then sell us drugs and medicine that will help your problem but create another from somewhere else, creating this huge cycle of income because who doesn't want to be healthy right, we pay for this medicine and supplies but people don't realize these same people are killing us, we call these people the 1%, all these ways they use to kill us can create defects and mental illnesses, people call them theories but they don't seem to just be theories that would also explain why they fight so hard to keep Marijuana illegal, it's a herb not a drug, that would explain why so many people that have created world changing inventions were murdered or "died" a guy created a car that runs from water, they poisoned him, wonderful breakthroughs but they were silenced, you don't think the cure for cancer was already made or created, cancer just makes them so much money because of chemotherapy, money is number one in this world, not people.

It doesn't have to be, but there are always evil people who will do it. Even if the population was much lower, it would still happen.

Even if the planet was a hundred times larger with the same population, people still would. There are evil people that simply want what others have or will try to force others to what they want.

Actually most murderers aren't mentally ill, and most mentally ill folks aren't murderers. But in a world of over 7 bn. population a complete absence of murder is inconceivable, especially when we have so many interesting ways of killing people. You could probably reduce the number of murders by limiting access to firearms but that would probably lead to an increase in knife crime.
