Can a deer die from head trauma?

i am sitting from of the fire when I hear a chain link fence bang like something was in the pot farm the last actual wooden part of the fence blew down over the winter and a deer got in a lot of green plants etc I get it. It tired getting out thought the fence. So I went to investigate. Cuz I heard what I thought was my dog bark. Turns out is wasn’t my dog. Just the deer in there the deer tried 3 more times to get out running full speed on the far side of the field then Old man’s Jim’s dog come running in and chase the deer trying to get out it runs into the fence twice more and I’m standing at the only exist step a side and the deer passes with in 3-6 feet of men. I saw its head was all bloody. Now that could be from the impact and that fence will cut you if you’re not careful. Or it hit its head so many times it started bleeding. The deer ran off now I feel like I should have shot the deer because I don’t know if it’s now suffering and will end up dead in a neighbors yard. What are your thoughts on this bizarre situation

The thing about deer is they quite enjoy head butting each other with considerable force. If they can't find another deer they'll take out their frustration on trees, posts, fences etc. Yes they can die but usually they're ok, their skulls are built for impact. If you look at impact deaths they tend to be side strikes on the torso.

Fair I was wondering if I should have gotten my gun and chanced it down I have a scare on my right arm from the fence I hate to think of what it may have done to the deer

I think either the deer will be fine or nature will take it’s course with it. Animals are injured and killed in the wild all the time irs inevitable

Yeah, I know I’m wondering if I should’ve shot the deer. It would technically count as poaching, but where does the line exist between poaching and putting an animal out of his misery. Plus, I’d eat the damn thing. Bones make excellent broth.
