Interesting story for you about radium. Back 100 years or so radium was painted on clock and watch dials to be visible at night.
A workforce of women were used to do the painting with a small paint brush. In order for the women to maintain a fine point on their brushes, they were instructed to insert their paintbrush into their pursed, moist lips, then apply pressure as they removed the brush. Remember, they were painting radium on clock and watch dials.
Needless to say, these women soon developed cancer.
She too died because of radium radioactivity even her books have such level on toxicity they are kept in lead lined box.
