What's your opinion on the McDonald's abuse claims?

Oh dear, according to the news McDonald's has a culture of sexual abuse and racism. There's been an outbreak of gonorrhoea at a branch in Northern Ireland. Welsh bosses taking bets on who can sleep with new staff and a whole lot of groping of under-18s across the UK.

I worked at McDonald's in the early 90s in Torquay. It wasn't exactly a healthy environment but nothing like the article. We had one manager left after he allegedly propositioned a younger employee but in general it was just high pressure. Most of the staff were 17-22 and casual sex was just how they dealt with the stress of the job.

I think I was the only general worker who had a girlfriend outside the store so I wasn't involved in the sex but it definitely happened a lot. We didn't see it as abuse because it wasn't usually the managers involved. It was just how it was. And the girls initiated as often as the guys.

And bear in mind age of consent in England is 16

I quit fast food decades ago. So I don't eat this garbage.
But the rest is a civilisation problem. Bunch of scum entering and no one cares to remove them. See grooming gangs. people are so disconnected with their culture and traditions that they don't care anymore.

It will take some time to see if McDonalds corporate was not taking reasonable precautions and / or not reacting to reports of harassment and assault. It seems clear that there was an issue at the branches.
