This song is a bit racist…?

There’s a lot of debate around this shit song. And it is shit. Not that racist tho. But a bit. Because it’s espousing oft quoted racist belief of “inner city crime.” Which is BULLSHIT. That term is BULLSHIT. Yeah there’s crime. But no more than any town.

BASICALLY: What is a small town? He’s comparing inner city violence to small town life.

Fine that’s country music. But that is a bit racist…especially when small rural towns are where more violent crimes happen.

And the “sucker punch game” myth was total fcking racist.

Finally let me blow your mind and compare Chicago crimes to Birmingham Alabama. Boom:

This song is a bit racist…?

“Try sucker punching in a small town”…oh they do asshole.

Citations: You do have to note the difference in “all crime” versus “violent crime” versus “murder”. I chose “all crime” as the stats above. But violent crime is even worse for small towns. Birmingham has a rate 20.5 per 1000 people, Chicago has 8.7. Obviously because it’s 20x the population but it’s not more violent than small towns.

It’s BULLSHIT. As always with right wing media. Which country music absolutely is.

Seriously. Look this up yourselves. Crime stats per 1000 people are best to compare with small towns. Crime rates I’ve seen are usually double Chicago…PER 1000 people, mind you. So that’s a chance of how likely you are to be a victim of crime.
