Where would you put the Secret Service agents if Trump were in jail?

If Donald Trump were found guilty of any of the charges against him and were sentenced to jail, there would be an interesting conundrum.

By law, as a Past President, Trump is entitled to 24/7/365 security protection by the Secret Service. If Trump were in a jail cell, would the Secret Service agents be in adjacent cells? And how would they do shift changes?

Is this one more reason why it is unlikely that Trump will ever do jail time?

The easiest solution would be for Congress to amend the law so that protection can be terminated upon incarceration. In reality though, the secret service could remain on site and move him from place to place inside the prison just as they do on the outside. There would be no reason to remain with him while he’s locked in his cell. They of course would have to be an unarmed protection detail behind bars but it could be done. You can bet the secret service is working out a plan with the bureau of prisons behind the scenes as we speak.

The responsibility for his safety would transfer to the prison officers. A conviction should come with a stripping of any previous privileges.

If Trump is sentenced to prison the Secret Service would be able to insist that all other prisoners are evacuated and staff members are investigated.

Just have a guard or two watch him at all times that are members of the secret service.

Put a body cam on him the whole time and if he lets loose any critical information put him in solitary confinement. The agents of course could take shifts but I don't want them hanging around in a jail cell.
