Trump leads by a wide margin so why bother hurting his chances by going up on stage? What do you say?

Debating with those other clowns would only lower him to their level and make them look like they are on an equal par.

I think it strategically doesn’t make sense. He’s got a huge lead (that’s way more of the country’s problem than anything else, that in the face of ever-increasing evidence of wrongdoing, it only bolsters his support, which is absolutely fucking Bananaland🙃), DeSantis is the only viable threat and he’s a total weirdo. That’s the real loss. I’m no fan of Trump, or any of the participants, really (Tim Scott seems like a generally nice guy though), but the funniest thing about Trump is that he’s a bully and he eats nerds alive. Just absolutely murdered Ted Cruz in cold blood that one time, lmao. DeSantis would’ve walked into a fucking buzzsaw, he’s the real winner by Trump sitting out😂

Debates are kind of goofy by nature because they aren’t won and lost on facts, they’re typically won by the person who is the most charismatic and/or is the best communicator. A dude like Vivek Ramaswammy is dangerous because most of what he says is bullshit, but you have to go do your own homework to figure it out, and let’s be real, almost nobody is doing that, lmfao. So he comes up and is confident and articulate and slick, and people’s brains just fall for it and say “now HERE’S a guy who knows what he’s talking about!” I still haven’t had a chance to watch in its entirety but I did see Nikki Haley go in at him and hold her own, so points to her for that.

But Trump is the old beloved “comfort” TV show to people who liked him in the past. No one in that group will out-charisma Trump to an audience who feel generally positive about him. It all seems so phony and transparent to me, but apparently millions and millions of others buy in, so here we are. Within the right wing silo, Trump remains king.

Strategically, with the lead, and with so many undying supporters who will defend any and all moves he makes, there’s no “con” to sitting it out. If he went, you have truth-tellers like Chris Christie with nothing to lose, he’ll rail on Trump for lying about the election being stolen, the classified documents, everything. Ditto for Asa Hutchinson. Pence is there, someone will bring up that Trump left him high and dry with people calling for his fucking HANGING, lmao. It’s just gonna be like “You look pretty dead to rights in some of these cases, you’re a fucking criminal…boom, roasted.” I mean, most of them wouldn’t have the balls, but Christie for sure would, and all Trump could do is be like “Chris Christie, a corrupt, fat slob….”, lmao

This was smart of Trump to avoid. It’s his primary to lose, so I don’t see what the pros of going would be when his followers are so die-hard and are waiting to see which way he moves so they can defend it until their dying breath.

There was no reason for him to be involved in that debate. That was an opportunity for the other potential challengers to get their names out there and beat up on each other, eventually most of them will get knocked out of the competition and this debate was the first step.

Not necessarily. He’s already at the ceiling of his support. He won’t win over any new voters and he can’t be trusted to not say something that will be incriminating in his upcoming trials. He may be ineligible to run under the 14th amendment anyway. Someone on the right is eventually going to challenge that.

I remember the debates from the 2020 election. The moderator was an establishment shill and had a very obvious bias. Unless they found a more neutral person to be a moderator, I can understand why Trump wouldn't want to go becuase the debate wouldn't be held honestly.

This was why I was hoping they would allow Joe Rogan to moderate the 2020 debate. He is or was a Bernie supporter but is not afraid to ask questions about things that don't add up.
