Especially I would say "Combat Veterans"
I mean, imagine a man who is ready to sacrifice everything even their life and go through hell so that innocent men, women and children of the country stay safe and peaceful...

Well, here's the thing: that's not really what they do. Oh, it may well be what they INTEND to do, but being part of the military means doing what you're told to, regardless of whether it's right or wrong- and regardless of whether it actually makes the people of the country safer.
The soldiers at Abu Grahib certainly didn't- that just helped galvanize Middle Eastern opinion AGAINST this country and the people in it. Ditto the guys in My Lai. The sailors off the coast of Cuba in 1962 almost destroyed civilization. Just about every American war before 1972 was fought in no small part by slaves who had literally NO voice in choosing the leaders who sent them there; supporting that kind of government is the exact opposite of "keeping them safe and peaceful".
Of course, it's usually impossible to know what you prevented from happening- you can tell if you arrested the people who tried it; not so much if your mere presence scared them so much they gave up the whole idea- but if you're going to praise them for the good they do, you have to hold them accountable for the bad, too. It can't go just one way.
Beyond that specific aspect, what sets soldiers apart from others that take tremendous risks and are required to make modern life possible? Here in the US, for example, we lose more truck drivers than soldiers every single year- and without truckers, American society flat-out doesn't EXIST. Do they deserve to be thanked? Doctors? Infrastructure engineers? Road workers? You may well say they do; I'm asking this earnestly, not to be a jackass. But do you thank them?
Agree with your last point
Everyone who contributes deserves a Thank you for your service?
Don't you think we must stop giving fame and too much repsect to celebrities /sportsmen etc
it's disgraceful how the country disrespects the people who put their lives on the line to protect them so they can engage in destructive behavior

You don't seem to want to accep the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke.
Gave me goosebumps always!
My fav dialogue was the " Good supply of Body bags" !!
Also I feel there are quite a lot people out there in military, especially special forces maybe.. for whom the above words suit..
Whenever I see anyone with a military hat on I thank them for their service and anytime I see the soldiers in uniform, I thank them for their service too 🇺🇸👍🙂
Wish everyone had this mindset!
My heart breaks seeing some people insult them
If I find out they're a vet I'll tell em "what's up brother/sister" tell them I was in and ask them where they served.
Yes, of course my father and brother was one in the United States Air Force
Badass family I see!!!
Yes, I do. And I am a veteran myself.
Well then, I must say.. Thank you for your service!!
I do sometimes. They are the best of us.
Most veterans actually find that obnoxious.
