It is not the religion that is the problem, its the people. Islam is basically identical to Christianity when it comes to the scriptures and ideology so you are not making the argument you think you are making.

Christianity and Islam are both Abrahamic religions. Its the same God, just slightly scriptures and prophets. The difference between them is quite frankly cosmetic at best.

For example, many people make a huge deal about women in Islam covering their hair or even their entire body? Guess what? That is also a Christian tradition, granted its fallen mostly out of favor in modern times but you can still see it in for example nuns.

People keep making fun of Islam for calling themselves the "Religion of peace", Christianity literally does the same exact thing.

Islam and Christianity worships the same God with the same fundamental teachings.

I have lived amongst them. Your need to defend is noble but misplaced. Separate the people from the religion for a moment. Islam does not preach tolerance or meekness. It believes in conquest. It preaches pretending to assimilate. It preaches treachery towards their adopted home countries when they have enough numbers. They complain about being a minority in virtually every country they immigrate to, they take as much advantage of those countries as they can until it's time to turn. For a muslim, religion is always first. Not their homeland. Islam is not at peace with people of other faiths, it preaches killing them or forcefully converting them. They claim that they can only have peace when the entire world is islamic. The peaceful muslims are peaceful inspite of their religion not because of it.

Yes, it is a cult. It favors unquestioning obedience and view any doubts or condemnation as anti islamic, to the point where muslims don't condemn their own when they do something evil for fear for their own life. With 1.8 billion people, It's the most successful cult so far.
