What exactly do people mean now by "Free Palestine"?

I'm relatively new to the topic of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

What I know is that nothing happened for 2 years, then terrorists from Gaza came to Israel and killed/captured a lot of people, then Israel answered with bombs and a lot of people all over the world went out to the streets supporting Gaza.

How can it be? I can't believe that a huge part of the world supports terrorists, so it should be something else. But I don't understand, what exactly. People with the "Free Palestine" message, can you please explain your opinion?

They mean what they have always meant. You must be living under a rock.

There has always been conflict since the second world war, when the British empire and French split Middle Eastern lands. They chose Palestine to ship immigrant and terrorist Jews onto, instead of letting them into their own countries. The British passed their mandate onto Zionist settlers to stop them bombing the British, and letting the Americans take over.

Since then, the Jewish settlers have stolen Palestinian lands, killed, imprisoned and tortured them too. In fact, the occupying state of Israels human rights record is worse than China's. Even amnesty can't sugar coat it.

Hence why there is always a conflict as Israel kills and captures, Hamas does the same back.

There is nothing "different" about what has happened 2 weeks ago. Hama just got a bigger number than usual.

As so many things, "its depends"

Some pepole will talk about the innocent Palstaiones that just want to live in peace
Some will refer to "freedom fighters" of Hammas to succeed in destroying Israel or keeping it, but just getting rid of all the jews that there by the magic meaning of "I dont care what happens to them they are just not suppose to be there"

Some will refer to the lies they think they know about what is going on, when they never been, and never really research or talked to anyone that lives in Israel that are really from Palestine and will tell you that so much that is told is a pile of bullshit

Some will refer to releasing the Palestine pepole from terroirest organizations that are trying to control them and use there "own pepole" as shields if its to protect ammo and missles, bombs and tools, or pepole that set there lower ranking guys to go out and die while they remain in there safe house surrounded by innocents pepole that just want to give there family a life

I am sure there more definitions out there, but this is the main onces I know of

You said you don't understand this, but based on what you wrote, I think you understand it as well as anyone.

Nothing happened for 2 years and then on October 7th, Hamas attacked Israel and killed many people, raped women, and burned and beheaded babies.

Now Hamas will be obliviated. Also, I don't know why people on this thread are giving you the history of the world. None of that matters. Babies were killed, and now Hamas will die.

Of course all the Palestinians in America are riding and want to ceasefire. Too bad! They had a ceasefire and they blew it.

The history matters because many people want to take a side with Palestine without ever even doing the research, the reading, and the diving into the history of the situation. A lot of people are feeling oh so sorry for Palestine and what's happening to them - which is no doubt pretty rough - but they're ignorant of the past, not knowing that Palestine has always been the players against Israel from the beginning. They have supported Hamas and even Hezbollah when they attack Israel, then when Israel strikes back these people are ready to say how awful and inhumane they're being. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If they firmly believe in their cause of "wiping Israel off the map" then they should handle their situation with grit when Israel strikes back.

I remember seeing all the wars and battles between these two in the news throughout the early 2000s, so it's safe to say none of this is what Israel wants.

I understand what you're saying, but thousands of Palestinians are going to be killed, and they brought it on themselves. Did you see the dorks on college campuses protesting the death of Jews on Oct 7th? No, because they just think what their teachers tell them to think.

One college student was asked by a reporter, what she thought about this war. Twice, she said "Palestan" ... She thinks that's an actual place.

Another student was interviewed by the same reporter.
She said: "I don't know what's going on, but "they" pay me to protest.

I don't care what side people are on in this war, but we ALL should be terrified by the thought of who "they" are.

But my understanding leaves no space for supporting Palestine, it makes absolutely no sense. But a lot of people all over the world do support Palestine. I want to hear from them, what's on their mind. What idea they have that I don't know, that makes them think they're right and Israel is evil instead.

So let's get into some history. The nation of Palestine is a people descendent of groups of Arabs who settled in Israel hundreds of years ago. The land of Israel always existed for thousands of years, but you have moments in history where the Jews were scattered from there.

Palestinians are not the original people of that area, and you can do that research to find out. After Israel became "official" in 1948, the Jews were willing to accept Israel and Palestine co-existing, but the Palestinians didn't want that and have been on a crusade to "wipe Israel off the map" ever since.

People are supporting a 'free Palestine' without doing any homework or reading history for themselves, they just see and hear what others say and they follow it. Palestinians are not native to Israel, and they are the ones who have attacked it for decades. Israel hasn't always been perfect in their handling of Palestine, but I think more often than not they've tried to live in peace with them.

Yes, I'm aware of the viewpoint you've described, and I truly understand it. My issue is that I don't grasp the opposing opinion and would like someone to explain it to me. I can't dismiss the supporters of Palestine without understanding their exact stance.
I want to understand both sides.

I mean, when people say "Free Palestine," are they referring to the West Bank or Gaza?

If it's the West Bank, then why are people holding these signs now, especially when the current escalation pertains only to the Gaza Strip?

And if it's about Gaza, isn't it already free? After all, the Israelis voluntarily left there 20 years ago, and the residents of Gaza have been left to their own devices. Or by "not free" do they mean the economic blockade? If so, why are the grievances only directed at Israel and not, for instance, Egypt, which also supports this blockade?

If this slogan is essentially just a show of empathy towards their fellow Arabs or Muslims, then what are these people truly advocating for with the "Free Palestine" rallying cry? It seems that they should actually be in favor of Israel, as the primary adversary preventing them from leading normal lives is Hamas. There might be a need for an external force to help deal with them, and Israel is prepared to do that. So, shouldn't Arabs and Muslims be supporting Israel in this endeavor instead?

And if they believe that Hamas is not an enemy but a friend of the Arab people, then I'm truly at a loss. Do you support their terrorist methods of killing civilians and believe that Israel has no right to respond?

These are the questions on my mind. I just don't know where to find someone from the pro-Palestine side who's willing to answer them.

You make some good points. Gaza is already free, yes. Both Gaza and West Bank are supposed to be Palestine yet Gaza is ruled by Hamas and West Bank is ruled by Fatah, which is also pretty much militant. But you see how discombobulated this nation is? Wanting to be "free" and destroy Israel yet having no order in its own house.

All the other nations and individuals who want to support Palestine are doing it to get at Israel. If all the Arab nations out there really cared about Palestine they would use their precious oil money to help them. Instead they give that money to Hamas to get at Israel.

At this point in the world's day and age, to get rid of Palestine would be pointless and you really can't do it anyway. Whether I like or agree with them or not, they are still people and you can't just go killing them all. What would be best is for them to get their act together as a nation and put their hatred away. They need to stop funneling money into their hate and militancy and leaving their people poor and actually try to build them up.

They don't realize that someone has to be productive for society to exist and that by taking from others, they are forcing someone into slavery. Is this your stance or are you "speaking for them"? Because I know that Israelis speak about the opinion of Palestinians. I want to hear from the Palestinian supporters themselves.

And if this is your opinion, do you think it's normal to hold such a position in today's world? Are you in favor of exterminating a nation? If so, how can you expect anyone from the civilized world to support you?
