6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. There was a time when Arabian culture was kind of romanticized in the U. S. From Rudolph Valentino in The Sheik, to Tales of One Thousand and One Nights, Shahrazad, Aladdin, Sinbad, Cleopatra, etc.
But after Iran threw off the U. S. imposed Shah and countries in the region rebelled against western imperialism, they were demonized by our government. And, of course, that benefited the Zionist agenda, too.
911 was blamed on Islamic terrorists, a narrative that I don't believe. But, since then all Muslims have been treated like terrorists.
And everyone who speaks Arabic is assumed to be Arabic, which isn't true.
Anyway, ignorant sheep who believe politicians and corporate media and know nothing about history are led to distrust Muslims. It has been deliberate because it benefits U. S, British and Israeli geopolitical ambitions.
And the more moronic people have delusions about centuries of Islamic brutality toward Jews and Christians.
Wars in the region, all engineered by the West, have displaced millions, and Western countries have been forced to accept large numbers of immigrants. This has caused social problems and resentment in those Western countries.
So, although I have had nothing but good interactions with Persians, Afghanis and people from the Levant, I suspect that a lot of people fear and resent them the way they feared and resented Japanese after Pearl Harbor. But I have no way of quantifying how much prejudice exists.13 Reply

+1 yJustified distrust, I'd say. I read some of your responses and I've yet to think of a simple answer that can't be misconstrued. @rigmarole answer was actually pretty good. Predominant religions are typically a product of ethnicities. That's why he pointed out fundamental differences in US law in that Congress passed a law that says... they will not pass a law that respects any religion.
In the Middle East, Arab and Muslim is the predominant demographic is. race, you know that. Shariah law and regimes have laws in place that DO respect a religion. America is different in that while it's laws are Christian based, it doesn't exicitly recognize Christianity as our national religion. US laws are secular in that they take doctrines from inside religions and outside of them to govern people. Here, you can worship whoever you want as long as your practices abide by US law.
For instance, slavery and polygamy are both in the Old Testament and the Quran. Christianity and Judaism both reformed after Christ's crucifixion and that was no longer preached. Regardless, the US outlawed both in our secular laws. It was by our liberal democracy and the will of the people.
This is why we don't like inviting people over who aren't like minded. If you allow people in who seek to destroy the very system that allowed them in, then it's an incompatiblity problem. Those people who become US citizens determine that will. Unfortunately, some of them lie or are incompetent and don't respect the customs of their hosts eg. fucking up someone else's backyard.
9/11 was a dirty, low handed tactic radical Muslims pulled. They don't feel shame, that's why they get carpet bombed when they fuck with oil producing infrastructure that was built by foreign companies. They took advantage of our customs and hospitality and did what extremists do using innocents as human shields and plowed into the WTC. They had no idea the buildings would collapse, they celebrated that stroke of luck.
There's verses in the Quran that allow for wife beating. How you want to interpret those verses is up to you. For dominant/submissive relationships, that's what some women want. I notice it on this site occasionally. And some of them have a preference for white men, most of the traffic for this site comes from America and it happens that a majority of our demographic is still Caucasian.
The topic race is also a complex subject that requires a through understanding of our social history for the past few decades. I don't know how to condense it down for you. Similar to the conflict in the Middle East right now. It just isn't simple.
00 Reply 495 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Arab is not a race. Arabic is a language and the people that speak that language are Arabs. The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
You know who's idea that was? James Madison... Does he look like a Black man? Does he look like an Asian man? No, he's a White man. He inititiall wrote:
"The people shall not be deprived or abridged of their right to speak, to write, or to publish their sentiments; and the freedom of the press, as one of the great bulwarks of liberty, shall be inviolable." which was then edited by an all White House of Representatives to it's current verbiage. Now ask yourself in Arab countries do White people have freedom of speech? What will happen in an Islamic country if for example a White man was to insult the "Prophet" Muhammad? In Sharia is it a serious and grave matter? Will people be put to death over it? You project a lot of your own sins onto White people.

Lol. Someone who have a brain, will not write this comment to me. How i am embarrassed by my culture while in all my questions i say my ethnicity?
About the culture i criticize my culture so many times here and i talked about how radical muslim are affecting the Middle East. It’s just your long answer is not related to my question. It’s so long and tedious.
Especially when arguing about whether arabs are ethnicity or a language then ending the sentence with the word arabs again.
Like if i were you, i would just wrote. Yes there is racism mostly because of the religion and islam.
No need to write me long answers.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI think it's largely antithetical cultures. There's an old speech from John F. Kennedy about the similarities between Russia and the United States. That "We breathe the same air, we both cherish our children's futures, and we are all mortal". But after that the similarities kind of stop.
I struck up a friendship of sorts with an Egyptian gentlemen i used to game with when I was younger. In many respects we were very similar. But there was vast cultural differences between us in the end that were impossible to overcome, for both of us. Most notably, he was a fervent communist. And him and I would go round and round about it because I would not buy what he was selling with communism. And he was NOT the first communist middleasterner I've met.
I don't care what race or religion you are. If you respect me I'll respect you. But respect means you don't get to indoctrinate me into your culture. If you find that "racist" then the problem. Is with you, not me.
02 Reply- +1 y
Sorry to hear that. Yea! 😥unfortunately some Middle Eastern people like to force their ideology/ opinion on you.
Of course that won’t make you racist. But there are many arabs who respect your boundaries, opinions and beliefs.
Opinion Owner+1 yExactly. And I think it's just our very differing cultures. It's human nature, we fear what we don't understand. We have our OWN division of cultures in in the United States. I don't claim to be any kind of an expert but just in religion I know the middleeast has different sects of Islam. So in my viewpoint you guys have your own divisions.
Like I say I think it's divisions of culture. The media doesn't really help here. If it bleeds it leads. So if there's a terrorist act it gets 100 times the press than any act of kindness. I can see how that would give Americans a dim view of Muslims over time.

@NathanDavis I think you should be honest with her and tell her your race. This is one of the major problems with actual racism in that people aren't honest about what they are. Especially when @reemaa explicitly tells you she's looking for answers from those in the White community.
- +1 y
@NathanDavis Don't go off on a tangent calling me a racist, either. That's another source of White distrust because any discussion of racie quickly devolves into being called a Nazi.

+1 yI had large group of them around me. They were cordial when visiting their Mosque. Engaging them in conversation about religion they were confrontational. A woman whom worked with them said they were very abusive and demeaning of women.
I personally had very little experience. I talked with some at check out lines, but that's it. I think the issues would be cultural, just not something we are very familiar with.

In general. I spoke with arab men and women. I suspect there are differences in arabs as it's a generality, same as "western".

+1 yIt is primarily against the religion, rather than any people. Islam is considered backward and many of its customs go against traditional American customs. Even then, there is little complaints in that regard.
You'd live peacefully in the USA with little fear of discrimination.10 Reply
+1 yIs racism alive? Yes very much so. I try not to look at someone’s skin color. I try to chat with people and get to know their story. I’m no better than a different race, underneath the skin we all bleed the same and have the same skeletal setup.

I’m sure my community is pretty respectful. In all honesty, I think racism is alive yes. However I think that a lot of racism is created by governments to keep people at odds with each other.

+1 yIts actually the other way around. Far more racism against white people. Specifically straight white men. But they don't want you to know that. So they don't report on it in the news
03 Reply- +1 y
Its taught to people in Schools. Lgbtq vs straight, women vs men, black vs white. CRT teaches all of this.
White people are not racist as such. Just everyone is about equally racist. Least racism is in countries like India as they are racist to each other more than to foreigners

The culture in the USA is we are a melting pot of cultures around the world. People here work hard to raise families and we have a bill of rights including freedom of speech. Racism isn’t a part of the culture taught in the USA but sadly exists in small areas
