Nope. Feminism is more or less a product of the sexism inside Abrahamic religions such as Christianity and Islam combined with a more general civil rights movement. If society is oppressed enough then it will lash out against that particular thing. If Christianity and such had not been so incredibly sexist and infected western society so deeply then there would not have been enough outrage to create a civil rights movement.

I think that's certainly one possibility. Regardless of why it took so long to manifest itself, I couldn't be happier about the recent gains women, as a whole have accrued in today's society, and we should all hope and pray that this only continues in the future.

Perhaps more of a dependency on the male figure would have an impact as well. There was not much co-mingling of different cultures in ancient times compared to our current world.
