The world was a very harsh place in ancient times, and women needed men to survive. They would not have wanted "equal rights and responsibilities". Most women didn't even want the right to vote.

man those times were absolute mans who were strong in every sense they didn't get pressured on to the giving up on their superiority for the sake of public appearance

The majority of the population wasn’t educated; that was reserved for the rare few. As more and more people have the opportunity for education , more and more girls are choosing to reach for their potential
