How can someone get in trouble for self defense?

It’s absolutely ridiculous. Nobody should ever be punished for self defense. Punishing a person for using self defense needs to be a capital crime. If I had to hurt a person to defend myself, I’ll do it whether it’s legal by law or not.
Like in school, if I was a kid in school, if someone attacked me, I would defend myself even if I’d get expelled from the school. I’d rather defend myself and get expelled from the school than end up in the hospital.

I think currently there's this thing called "Stand Your Ground" law that is related to this. It might only be in particular states though, like Texas. This law DOES protect someone from legal prosecution should this terrible event/incident ever needed to happen. Yes, I believe even if the assailant/perpetrator ends up dead.

Self defence should be in proportion to the danger you're in and should cease once your no longer in danger. The only time you'll get prosecuted is when you go way too far. I suspect you're the type who goes around looking for a chance to defend yourself and lashes out at the slightest provocation.
