The truth is, there is a huge problem that needs to be fixed. But when people start proposing fixes, they’re often quickly labeled as racists, ethnocentric, or worse. It’s like people just want totally open borders but don’t want to deal with any of the problems that brings. This is an American/Bipartisan issue that needs immediate attention, not people arguing over how we’re labeling people.

The United States isn't the only one with rules & regulations regarding immigration. It's overtly harder to become a citizen of Canada than it is of the United States. Not everyone who is coming to the border is fleeing oppression & persecution.

"Illegal" is shorthand for the legal term "illegal alien". There's also a connotation that the alternative "undocumented" implies the migrants have a right to be here and just lack documentation. Thus illegal alien is the proper term. They don't have the right to be here and shouldn't be.

The country is being overwhelmed and these people who've completely avoided the legal process are getting free stuff that natural born citizens don't even get. I know people that went through the proper channels, were deported more than once and legally got their citizenship and these illegal aliens are a slap to their faces.

Illegal, alien, and illegal alien are not offensive terms and people going out of their way to declare everything offensive are leading things to become double speak like they have in 1984.

You may not agree with this as I think many people don't but I believe that the whole furor about immigration by the right in this country is just a disguise for their racism. There's a big difference between the sit-ins from the civil rights movement (which is to show how absurd racial segregation is and is something some liberals to this day still can't wrap their minds around) and deliberately violating border protocols that are there to prevent invasions when there are perfectly legal options available but are choosing not to use them.

How is crossing the border with no security justifiable anyway? The only reason the illegal immigrants are doing what they are doing is because the government is allowing them to be leeches on the tax system by taking priority for benefits over actual citizens including immigrants who went through the actual legal process. These illegal aliens think we are morons and they're correct.

If you want to argue that they are fleeing from being pursued or opression, then that's a good reason to go to where the guards are so that they can protect the potential immigrants from their pursuers.
