Well this is the start of the 2 year anniversary of an invasion in which Russia said it would only take 10 days. That it TEN DAYS and it has lasted far longer and the Russians shown as not a power they told the world they were. In the last week they have lost 7-8 aircraft, the Russians are using T-55 and T-62 tanks…. i am not that sure that Ukraine is losing, it’s not winning yes but Russia is also not winning. The original reason for the latest part of the war that began in 2012, was to prevent the expansion of NATO, with Sweden and Finland now pretty much sorted, the opposite has occurred. Not only that the Russians have lost some of their most elite troops, best commanders and best equipment, including ships. The simple way to end the war is for Russia to leave Ukraine. Come June, bridges and other logistics areas will be taken out. Crimea will be isolated.

Not even sure why people thought it would go a different way. Russia is like the US and China. Countries like that don't lose. What that means is they will do what must be done to win. Whatever that is. If Ukraine tomorrow pulled out all the stops and drove Russia back and sealed and locked everything down Russia would nuke Ukraine. This sadly only has 1 outcome and I have been entirely against the US or any EU country for that matter wasting funds personnel and resources on this. As things currently stand global scale conflict is beginning to creep from the shadows. Tensions are rising all over the world between numerous nations. And the worse things get the closer we get to a global war. China is pushing boundaries. North and South Korea are. Palestine, Israel, Taiwan, Russia, Ukraine, various Middle East countries. Huge swaths of Africa.

As usual, you are misinformed. On February 1st, the EU approved another 50 billion Euros (~54 billion USD) in aid. This is on top of earlier support payments and on top of the packages that all individual states send on their own.

It is, of course a symptom of major brain damage to still think we actually sent money to Ukraine. What we did is sent our outdated weapons to them and then paid ourselves to restock ourselves.

If the only tax dollars being wasted were in Ukraine, then things wouldn't be as bad as they are.

Giving Ukraine older but still serviceable weapons and providing training and intelligence was fine, perhaps even the newer weapons which were provided to them, as long as we are certain they aren't ending up being sold to third parties. But given Ukraine's rampant corruption, it made no sense to pay Ukrainian government salaries and pensions with US taxpayer money.

In addition, has there been any attempt to negotiate an agreement with Russia to end the war? The longer the war goes on, the greater the costs of reconstruction (no doubt also to be borne by US taxpayers) and the greater the demographic hit to Ukraine, something which has enormous long-lasting consequences.
