Why would you even lock your door at all?

A moron on the Internet just told me I'm a racist for not trusting the people of 100+ countries entering the US Illegally. Apparently he interviewed the millions of them, and he said they're all good people that just want to mow your lawn.

I was just talking to @Juxtapose about the difference between intelligence and knowledge. He agreed with my assessment, but I think we both agree that both qualities are very rare, these days.

The reason I lock my doors at night, is because I'm intelligent. I take no credit for that. I was born with that. At night I turn that deadbolt, because it makes me feel safer. Does this make me a racist?

No of course not, when a bunch of migrants were placed in my town we also began locking our stuff extra well.

Why? Ill summerize:
- Theft of shops
- Threatened locals
- Broke into houses
- Intimidation of young girls
- Unwanted advances of girls

Is it racist that we lock the doors because of that? No because they demonstrably were thugs.

None of this was ever about race or a fear of foreigners, it's the fact that every time you let violent people from other countries in you get violence. I am sure the Ukrainian refugee's that were also in my town caused no such trouble, they were genuine refugee's and share our cultural norms.

Please keep in mind that locking your windows and doors will deter criminals with a low amount of motivation but for the criminals of the higher amount of motivation it will only buy you time. Do you have a plan if somebody breaks in?

On a side note, I was talking to an expert in home security measures, and he said if you have a fancy alarm system, video cameras, bars on your windows, etc., it will make crooks wonder what you have inside your house. A criminal might break in because he/she/they/it/whatever, may think you have substantial valuables inside.

I grew up in Philly. I've never locked my door. Criminals can get through them and I can't kill people that aren't in my house unwelcome if they don't get in.
