Is japan too strong?

when japan/nipon surrendered unconditionally, they lost the last of their powerful navy, chopping the few major battleships n carriers to recycle.

they weren't alowed to have warplanes but they did have a small defense force, small? it is bigger than french!

french have 500 aircraft includng helicopter with warplanes: quality a bit less than both britan 560+100=660 aircraft and similar rank israel 600, similar amount and quality but...

japan far MORE than each of these! when not supposed to be strong. japan 100 more aircraft than britan!

what should countries do to "bring japan" in line, so not stronger than france?

Look at France's navy and army. France is stronger militarily than Japan.

Japan has concentrated more on air defence because it matters more to them whereas any potential air threat to France is at least 3-4 countries west. France has force projection capability, its one of only 3 nations in the world with the capability.

Japan is an ally which will stand against China. They, South Korea, Philippines and (!) Vietnam are preparing for war with China.

The United States is in terminal decline with de-dollarization well underway. It is absurd to expect Japan to limit its ability to defend itself when it sits next door to China. Likewise, Japan will be forced to come to terms with China and Russia as the US finds it increasingly difficult to effectively project force.
