Do employers expect everyone to have phones or should we be compensated for using our phones for work?

I get the gas mileage thing. Commuting is you fulfilling your obligation to get to work. Any miles you drive for work is usually compensated or tax credited.

Should phones be the same? Maybe like home offices…take a percentage off yearly phone bill total?

its expected…minutes and data are pretty standard unlimited…so get off it.

A lot is down to employers expecting employees to reply to emails and take calls on their personal devices. There is also the point that employees do not challenge their employer when it is assumed they will use their personal devices for work.

If an employer expects you to use your mobile for anything connected to work, then ask for a work mobile, tablet. Do not use your own personal device for work, it’s fairly simple to just say no. Also for some organisations, it is breaking their companies security model having people use their own devices.

Want me to take calls and do emails related to work, then give me a work paid for mobile.

Time is a very valuable commodity. Employers should stop expecting people to respond to them via phone or by any other method when they are not being paid for their time.

anything i do at work should be compensated extra. if i jerk of or pinch a loaf in the bathroom. pay me!
