Why just sub Saharan?
Short version, during the colonial period from like 1100 to 1940, countries went to other countries at least once, fucked around in them and left. In the majority of occasions they tried to move each on from tribal stuff and coalesce the country into a single entity, as it’s far easier to rule it.
Those same colonial countries also went through this during Greek period, Roman period, Germanic period (Saxons etc), Viking Period, Norman period, etc. Those living in what we call Russia and Ukraine were sort of kick started by the Viking period. The UK by the Romans, the Saxons and Normans.
This all led to some early Industrial Revolution stuff and advancing civilisation, people wanted more food, more space, also pretty things and technology help those people in like 1500’s or so to travel to new places.

when they went to new places, they did what happened to them, trade and or conquer and kill people until they realise trade works best. Unfortunately we have these things called diseases that are not good for people and we move them with us when we travel, disease killed and depopulated areas far more than any warfare.
what is semi interesting is how various areas adapted to the changes and progressed and those that are shown modern irrigation techniques, modern methods of building wells and pumping water but then ignore it and do like they have for thousands of years.

Think about it, yes European Capitalized on Conquest but in Africa for example Shaka Zulu went on a mission to expand his empire. He conquered smaller Nguni tribes who at yhbtimnspoke the same language and absorbed them into his growing empire (before the British annexed the Zulu kingdom.

Yeah but Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Libya were also all taken over.
Also the European expansion in Africa was in places more a case of The French were doing it, so get someone over there and take some land, no one really wanted to be there. I know the UK took some places just so the French or Spanish could not have them. One of the often overlooked reasons is part of the British Crusade which meant taking over areas of West Africa.

Denied natives formal or basic education. Used locals for cheap labor, and in the 1950s left their occupations with 80% of the natives uneducated, impoverished and forced to adapt from Peolithic Stone Age to 1950s Technology with proper training and education of how to use these technologies or education for the majority of the locals. That is why Africa is sitting with this problem. Over time greedy officials who were self gaining came to power. Uneducated, No formal training, emerged from his peolithic Stone Age background to run 1950s infrastructure and landscape. That is a huge evolution Gap. Plus the lack of formal training and education contributed harshly

That’s actually wrong about education, they setup schools from day one, preferred using locals for the civil service. In Africa it is down to ancient tribal crap, they moved straight to that about power, so that is one thing you cannot pin on what went on, schooling was always seen as important. First the missionaries set them up and then after that it was state or country ran.
Look at India, they were dropped directly into the Industrial Revolution at the same time as Africa, they were dropped Indians rapidly learned and managed to progress, the Africans did not.
Look at Zimbabwean land take over and changing the entire country from one that could feed itself, to one that moved 200 years into the past. Indonesia, Malaysia, India all went from the same position as Africa and learned. Japanese went from a feudal country with zero industrial education in a very short time.

For starters you make it sound like white folks just walked into African villages and took people, which is further from the truth.
They got a vast majority of slaves from the Dahomey, who were actively making wars with other African tribes to take their people's as slaves, as that was the Dahomey's main source of economic growth, also it was white folks (English and French) who stopped the Dahomey slave trades. So it was actually bigger richer African nations that interfered with the evolution of the smaller African tribes.

Also if left alone most of these people would most likely still be running with stone spears, as there are tribes around the world who have had very minimal interaction with people in the modern age that are still living without technological advancements past stone weapons.

Before the British arrived in Australia the natives has not made any advances since the stone age.
They still had not discovered how to make metal
Their mathematics hadn't advanced beyond basic counting.
Their art was still limited to crude rock art that was still behind European cave paintings.
They still hadn't developed a written language.

You'll see a similar story elsewhere. The fact is these primitive cultures were never going to evolve. Cultures need an injection of ideas from other cultures if they're going to advance.

In Peru for example they had all the infrastructure, even a sewerage system and Drinking water system. They only thing they needed was the wheel as Llamas were used.
