Why do some people complain about suffering the consequences of their lies?

Absolution of guilt. Most of these people do not even believe they are lying or believe thier lying is justified in some way.

For example, most women would rather hear a pleasant fiction than an unpleasant truth. Ergo men learn it's most advantageous to lie to get a woman. He knows she'll want to believe it. So the man can rationalize it as being necessary. To NOT do it would put him at an unfair disadvantage to the men who will lie to get what they desire.

On the flipside women lie about half the time. If they're not lying to men they are lying to themselves. Amd this is just in the everyday chatter. Women can and will lie about the more serious things. Such as her sleeping with a friend of his. Not because doing that isn't wrong, she knows it is. But she does the mental gymnastics to make it permissible in her own mind. Maybe he made her mad 2 weeks ago. Well this is her paying him back. So in her mind it makes it OK. If she's any kind of decent person she KNOWS it's not. That why she has to delude herself into believing otherwise.

Because they feel they are untouchable until life forces them to face the consequences and they simply don't like to have to deal with that.
